    a brief history

so I am mr d's ex partner and the mother of our 4year old son. He left me when little man was 3years old saying "it wasn't working for him". I have worked hard on unattaching emotionally as his partner and we are best friends now (with no benefits!) I am 12 years in recovery from addiction so I live each day with a 12 step prog and just try my best in all areas. Since getting his diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer he has been unable to have little fella at his house so I am having him stay at my house...

  • what a pain
    limbo

Lost my hair after 1st chemo, thought I would have it alot longer. Notice eyebrows thinning! Wearing hats as wig made me paranoid, just thought its gone why hide the fact, lady in my local Tesco express asked to see my head, when I took my hat off she stroked it, strange.

I feel I limbo. Life stood still since February 25th. 4 more lots of chemo then radiation therapy and tablets to stop my dam hormones changing my cells. I'm tired, I'm fed up and I want to think past this section of my life....

    Treatment

I began treatment later in March and I was nervous that it would hurt as it was going to be going into my body and it's something that I had no experience with.....I had a walk through of the chemo ward and it was a very daunting place rows of chairs and medical equipment surrounded the room and about 10 nurses were all attending to patients getting treatment...it was scary! On my 1st day I had to be there for 8am and my sister came with me to keep me company - we weren't to know we would be there...

  • Struggling caring on my own
    Starting out again

My wife was diagnosed last July  (2015) with breastfeeding cancer. Went through chemo, mastectomy and then radiotherapy. 2 months later was told it's come back riddled through her spine, chest and lung. We have two young children, I still try to hold down a 14 hour working day, but being the carer, am the first point of "blow off" for my wife. I understandthis, but household jobs are piling up, I do what I can, but 90% of my time at home....I seem to be the enemy. I'm sinking.....help ...

  • Off the top of my head
From the bottom to the top
    Posted Tuesday 31st May 2016
It's a cold, windy and pouring with rain day today as the month of May draws to a close. It seems like a good time to reflect briefly on how things have gone since I started back in ministry on May 1st.
Overall, I think that it's been Ok - there have been one or two days when overcrowding my diary has meant that I've felt really tired as the day wore on and in the evening I was left feeling really tired. Most days I'm crashing out early and am often in bed by 10 or...

    Things are moving on......

Well, nothing happened for a while - then yesterday the phone rang - the mainland hospital offering me dates - a rehearsal on 7th June followed by 2 weeks of PICT, 5 days a week, once daily, from 13th June..... ........so all systems are go. I wonder if they had a cancellation or if it's always this way? It all seems very quick, suddenly, after a couple of months wait. It's short notice to find accommodation in a tourist area - but have covered all but 2 nights now between 2 cottages and a B&B. There...
