Well I had the appointment and it went ok. I didn't freak out and had a good long chat with the doctor and afterwards we were introduced to my key worker, a lovely lady called Nicole who I can telephone or email with any queries, questions or just a chat.
Sheffield Weston Park Hospital also have a fantastic Cancer Help and Support Centre which I have been introduced to.
The doctor prescribed pain medication (liquid morphine) and something to help me sleep. I had to show identification at the pharmacy to collect the morphine as it is a controlled substance!
The plan is for me to have four weeks chemo-radiotherapy, Monday to Friday, wait four weeks and then surgery.
I also have an appointment for the node on my lung so its all happening.
It's all still a bit of a dream. Four weeks ago I felt perfectly ok, with a bad case of piles and now, although I don't feel any difference physically, I suddenly feel like an invalid, a cancer sufferer. Very peculiar feeling.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
