Chemo session No3 for Jonah - bearer of bad Luck

    1st June

Yes I think that as an infant I had been wrongly named since Jonah is more apt especially for this part of my life. Almost from the start of in the Day Ward (09.39) did things go wrong. Firstly my drugs were not ready since I had had an afternoon slot yesterday for blood tests and a consultation, which meant that the prescription was not sent to Pharmacy until this morning. Then secondly it appeared that my PICC line was blocked whilst the nurse attempted to flush it. This was resolved...

  • my journey back to me
1st June 2012 the start of my journey

just 6 weeks ago my life was normal, I went to work, texted my friends , spoke to my daughter and watched TV in the evening unaware that my whole world was just about to be turned upside down, My routine mamagram was the next day - no worries it wasn't my first and the only reason I wasn't really looking forward to it was because the radiographer at the last one had been less than pleasent but never mind it was only 5 minutes and then forget it for 3 years, ... move forward 3 weeeks and I'm sitting...

    1st day of chemo

Well after a fbusy day at work, chemo day beings.

    I am receiving Carboplatin only.

I in the chemo until for just under 2 hours, but wired up to the drop for about 45 mins only.

The nurses were lovely, the atmosphere was somewhat nice, not somber as you might think, and i came out of the whole experience feeling a lot more positive.

I know the chemo i am having mgiht not do anything as the mucinous carcinoma doesnt respond well, i know they think its from the gut, and im receiving ovarian...

Hoorah! Not had that invite since August, so Little My or Cinderella as she is now known in certain quarters, put on her ballgown and plastic tiara and I drove off  in her pumkin carriage for her cocktail party and hopefully dinner cos it’s a long time with no food….

Off she goes on the long journey to nice little cancer hospital in the...

    Feels At Ease

Last Friday was so hard and emtional. Grandma's funeral was moving. Dad did a speech, he kept it together and made us smile and cry. When the hearse came to my Aunt's house, I lost it. I was crying before I got into the other car. Mum and my Aunt Joan (one of Grandma's sisters) held my hands. Bless them both for being so caring towards me when everyone was in bits. The service was lovely, so warm and loving. All I remember was my Brother holding my hand during it and he was trying not to cry...

    Too nice to do housework!
It's been a while since I bored you with my ramblings about mother and the reason being, is that everything SEEMS to be plodding along without much upset at the moment. I had a really good chat with mothers doctor a while ago and she seems to think, like me, there hasn't been very much change in her for some time now...now and again little things crop up that make me think ' hear we go again', like demanding innapropriate clothing or giving money away but on the whole no massive change, that in...

    Operation Seek and Destroy

Starting to feel a bit apprehensive now and the realisation that I am having chemo tomorrow because the cancer is back is beginning to kick in.

Not sure if I can go on the trial yet due to protein in my urine. Always runs with protein in due to urostomy but trial criteria is strict and won't find out until tomorrow if they will allow it. One of the side effects of the trial drug can be protein in your urine. The lovely trial CNS is fighting my corner so we will just have to wait and see. No certainty...

    Back To Work

    Thursday 24th May

Well I have been off  work for 10 weeks after having surgery and have just completed my second session of chemo so I know reasonably well what to expect in the way of side effects. I have been predicting feeling sick all week and tired towards the end of this week prior to picking up again over the weekend. With this in mind and the likelihood that I will feel even worse towards the end of my 12 sessions due to the build up toxins, it makes sense that if I'm going back to work then I...
