Post 534: A long walk, a lovely dinner and AFib for afters.

Sometimes everything falls into place and you get what you want but why do you have to pay for it afterwards.

It was that walk to view possible fungi that I wanted all week and today with my Darling at work there was no stopping me. I fed the cat after cleaning up after him. He’s the messiest cat on this earth and I hoover daily the rice corns that are ravished all over the floor in his haste to gulp down the breaky or dinner, but it’s him that misses out on the whole daily intake, not me.

That done I did something is not usually attempt which is a bowl of yoghurt (5% fat) and in it I cut strawberries and a banana with sunflower and pumpkin seeds on top for good measure. This I left in the fridge for the tired me returning from a walk.

It looked beautiful outside and none of the bluster from yesterday so the shorts stayed on but I did put a scarf and gloves on with a bright red sleeveless jacket to keep the chill out.

I set off the watch app ‘outside walk’ and set off too quickly. I immediately had to stop and calm down, I needed smaller strides and let my left hand steady me with the rambling pole. Only one because my right shoulder is in pain so doesn’t need aggravating any more. Once in the swing of a pace I could manage, which deemed a bit of a crawl, I was able to feel like I could walk on forever.

My aim was the pond in the huge estate that used to be a nut-house (oh no! You can’t say that! No I can’t…). The enormous size of the place meant that the grounds were kept well and the home was pretty well self sufficient for fruit and veg. The grounds were used as part of the set up in view of healthy walks around the forests of ancient and planned foreign trees, now as tall as the clouds and a cricket pitch and a little pond where mallards and morehens live out their days.

I followed the path into the estate now encircled with new homes squeezed into three main areas and including a gated community, for good measure. I was astounded that the only thing that bugged me on the first leg of the walk was that the sunshine was burning my brand new tattoo. Pin-man was overheating when not shaded by trees and hedges full of birds. But that would be unlikely on the way home due to the route I’m taking back is the very same as going up (to the fungi - or so I thought).

The walk was to find a few fungi to photograph and yes on this blog but when I reached the little area I knew to be the best place for the early fungi I drew a blank. Nothing at all had popped up after the rain we had two days ago.

I was surprised and saddened but in the near future there will be some, and by some I mean loads. I’ll have to be patient and wait I guess.

The only wildlife apart from the ducks and the young fishermen trying their luck was a very vocal cat who could but follow me around, like it does with everyone I suppose.

That darn cat was up a tree one minute and on the picnic table seats the next. But after I had exhausted my options of finding fungi I gave up and with my legs cooling off in my slow search for the mushrooms, I started on the way home a little disappointed but I can always come back. So I trudged back home and was on the last walk up to our home, up the close where my neighbor lives with his poorly wife that had a stroke and he was telling me that now things are settling down. He had taken up the roles she could not do any more and after all the tests she’s not impeded by any other health issue barring the remains of the stroke obviously. He seemed happy to chat even about her depression which I had some advice to give him, and we both parted wiser.

I reached home and went to the fridge and sat with my cold yoghurt concoction which felt good and that I really earned it after 2.5 miles.

Wow! It wasn’t guaranteed that I’d walk the whole way to the pond but I was really chuffed that I had made it.

I sat a rested after the cold breaky and got to reply to a few texts and invitations to meet up with other old pals. By the time I’d found out the our youngest’s fiancé had pulled a muscle and wasn’t able for guests today because she a bit grumpy over the strain. So the trip down there was not possible today, but I did book up a visit to my old home town to meet up with my pal and family that both his adult kids are god-children of ours and thus always great to see them and how they’re progressing.

Other than that by the time my Darling struggled in cursing the tiredness but saying she was not going to bed because she wanted a good sleep tonight, so she washed the days grime away and sat beside me for a tv binge of a KDrama (Marry my Husband) and the newest episode of the Traitors.

I’ll say nothing about it in case someone’s watching it too. No spoilers.

So it was another great day only marred by the AFib attack. After the Doctors words yesterday evening about not having any Bisoprolol now, I haven’t now got a pill in the pocket for these attacks.

Well, for me, I’m happy to go along with the experts choice and wait for a long enough time to see what changes the pills have made to my body. It’s not easy to tell after a day and this AFib attack might be caused by a few things. Spicy food that I love, a vagal nerve incident (too much food in the stomach) or as Dr Bing says…

Acute stress or anxiety, Excessive physical exertion or dehydration, Stimulants like caffeine or certain medications, Electrolyte imbalances (low potassium or magnesium, Illnesses or infections that affect the heart or lungs.

Take your pick; but whatever it was it was over in 12 hours so relatively short.

So I wish you a fab weekend and I will try and get out again for a walk tomorrow.

I love my tattoo and it’s early days but there was no blood and it’s not stinging so it’s a healthy as it can be. I need it to be healthy so I can get on with the sleeve in two weeks. Ha ha.

Take care and sleep well.
