So that was it? The 5 year check up is meant to be a significant milestone but the fact that the radiographer was on holiday and I couldn’t have the mammogram as planned was a bit of a let down and once again I realise that the private healthcare and the NHS isn't quite joined up and the results are not always shared between the two systems.
So here I am, a few weeks on from the disjointed annual check up and mammogram, with the “good news” that I've reached the 5 year milestone, but I am feeling a lot less celebratory than I thought I would.
Am I just old and cynical? Am I too superstitious and thinking if I start to celebrate it will somehow come back? I know that's ridiculous, but I conclude that I am actually reluctant to celebrate as I'll be tempting fate. I mean, my check up was July and it's taken me till October to write this post.
So, here I am, a senior business leader, with a vast lived experience of life, worried that if I raise a glass to my 5 year milestone I’ll create a recurrance! Isn't our mind a curious thing……
