Thanks to all for your words of support, I do appreciate them.

We have just had a good couple of weeks.  Our 31st Wedding anniversary was on the 3rd and I booked a table at the same place we had our reception all those years ago.  Thankfully the place was still up to standard and we had a lovely lunch outside in the sun.

Yesterday afternoon, without warning, there was a small amount of vomit prior to her afternoon nap. During last evening there was a lot. Today its 11pm as I write and the District Nurse...

    In Limbo

How does one keep being positive when SO many things happen?  Things that aren't related, not health related, just life being crap?

Friends getting ill, ex-partner having a child that you can't ever have, losing your job, your own problems (!), protecting family?

My standard response is normally 'I'm fine thanks' or 'I'm good thanks' when people ask me.

I think my heart might be broken, it hurts so much.  Bubs will continue to be 'bubbly', but my heart hurts and I don...

    deja vu

Second time around - and faced with FEC 100. 9 years ago my mastectomy was followed by radiotherapy and tamoxifex. I didnt have to loose my hair or have my body pumped full of killer drugs.  When I look back over the last 2months I think the news that I would have chemo came as more of a shock than the news that I had cancer again!

Listen to your body ladies - Oncologist, Mammogram, Ultrasound and Radiologist all said everything was clear. I had been there before 9 years ago and My body was telling...

My first week as a parent of a leukaemia patient

    14th May 2011

Last week my 2 year old son was happily running around in the park, chasing after our two dogs. On the Friday afternoon, my wife had taken him to the GP, concerned about a rash on his body. The doctor thought it was menengitis and sent him to the County Hospital for tests. When the consultant came in with the result of the blood test, the last thing that any of my family expected was to hear the word  'Leukaemia'.

Once the diagnosis was made, everything was put into place to...

    hi

Not to good today I can.t stop crying, I think the last few weeks have eventually caught up with me.

My auntie popped in this afternoon she wasn;t in the house five min and she started talking about a programme that was on the BBC last night about death she proceded to tell my mom about this man and how he died and how he wasn't in any pain at the end.

I just couldn't believe what I was hearing, she made me so angry I had to get up and walk out of the room, I wanted to say something but...

    Suspended Animation

At the risk of being a moaning boring old dragon, I am now 7 long days since diagnosis, i know its a short time in the normal world, in my world at the mo its a long long time. how selfish I am to want the time to fly by, how selfish i am to sit here moaning and groaning instead of getting my act together.

I am truly struggling with all of the gaps inbetween each visit to the consultant, appts for scan appts for biopsy and finally the results appt, where they are going to tell me what i already...

    Bread !

This week I reached another long-awaited goal - for the first time in almost three years I had a taste of bread ! It was a rather messy operation because it was necessary to ' dunk ' the piece of bread into my tomato soup to make it softer - where's a bib when you need one ? But, with a lot of effort I did manage to eat the biggest part of a wholemeal roll........wonderful !

    hospital appt

    Evening

Well what day full of emotions again, my mom had her results today of her the CT scan she had last week. It was abit of a mixed bag really, the consultant said the cancer has spread again its seems a bit worse in her back. But he did say they wasn't really sure if it was the radiotherpy or if it was the cancer.

He won'ts her to start a differant kind of chemo ( tablet form) but he told us NHS does not fund it so he will have to apply for it, at this point I must admiit my heart went...

    Hi

I joined the chat room 3 weeks ago. I am a carer looking after my Dad who now has a prognosis of 4 weeks. Without the friends in chat, i dont know how i would have coped. I feel, lately, by the comments of another blog that carers are not welcome. I am sad about this and would value your views? sue xxx
