Post 531: Prescription confusion keeps me wondering.
I expected to be feeling the benefit of starting steroids at 2mg and staying on them forever but I can’t.
So by mid afternoon I had to email work and inform them that I’ll not be in at all this week. What a shame.
I was grateful for the pills I had for starting at 2mgs on Tuesday but here we are a day later a no appreciable difference yet in pain relief. It’s horrible and worrying.
All I can do is pop the pills as ordered by the medics and wait for a responce which currently, is not coming.
The cat came in the bedroom window, after a couple of cries this morning as I was still feeling a bit silly after the missed feed on Monday, so I’m he trooped like a lord and didn’t settle for his dance around the room was keeping him occupied and at over an arms length from me.
I still can’t touch the ground at all, I also need to push myself back up by grabbing first my knees then my shorts until I can straighten my back with as little pain as I can. This is my life lately and even the oramoph in greater quantities hasn’t helped. In fact all that happened is that my hand and finger tremors have come back to haunt me which proves that it’s not Parkinson’s of anything else as dramatic but a temporary change in chemical balance in my body. I’m glad about that to be honest. If the little things can be explained I’ll be glad, I’ll also be more confident in my self appraisal.
The rain arrived today and by 10:30 the patio was wet for the first time I so long.
But the supposed forecast was for real rain and that didn’t come. Even the temperature stayed up in the upper teens but there’s a lowering on Friday with a stiffer breeze and more rain, hopefully.
Nothing much was on the cards for today and tomorrow but I’ve got the tattoo on Friday after-which a trip to the seaside pub to meet up and chat for Britain with a pal I haven’t seen all summer. I’ll be going on the bus and I’m currently thinking about how best to care fort newly inked leg while on the bus or in the pub. The plan is always to wrap up the new ink with cellophane wrap for an hour, then wash it carefully and cover it with cream. That way the wound/tattoo is kept from infection and is kept clean until dries off completely.
I’m looking forward to seeing my mate and having a bite to eat and a beer, it’s been to long since we had a natter.
But today I’m just going to rest up like I said I would and get acquainted with some more Kdramas. I’ve finished three dramas this week bringing the tally up to 250 series now. That is some feat of endurance and shows how important it’s been to have a distraction to make my days shorter and more inclusive of the world outside my window.
Perhaps I’ll get that walk out today. The rain will have dampened the ground and allowed the fungi growing to start and with it autumn will be well and truly on its way.
But the walk will be a challenge and without being able to adequately squat or kneel down I’ll be frustrated with recording any finds with a photo, damn it. Life is so cruel sometimes.
Most of the hobbies I had are now tricky or impossible and I’m not at all the person I used to be. Without kneeling down lots of things are immediately tricky and without help getting up.
So I have to temper every little thing and use chairs as ladders to keep my independence, but that only inside, outside it whole different existence.
It’s much harder to get around.
So that was that and I rested all day to no avail. My back still I bits and the prescriptions still at the liberty of the doctor’s surgery. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll have my full range of pills but I can’t help thinking the 2mg steroids are a week away.
I have reminded the doctors at my surgery of this change in dose (via the online Accurex system) but until they get a dose change letter from the hospice in writing the docs will do nothing.
For now we wait.
Take care.
