Oncologist appointment - results of CT scan

So we found out that David hasn't got cancer anywhere else just in his head.

And I was right that they (the oncologists) thought the brain cancer had gone following the radiotherapy.

So apart from the detection of these blood clots on David's lungs the CT scan was essentially a waste of time. Apparently cancer patients are at high risk of blood clots in lungs according to research I did on the internet. Not that every one with cancer will get them, or that every one with blood clots will get cancer...

My Lovely Wife Julie the Funeral.

I didn't cry today. It was a full house at the Crematorium and there were lots of tears when "Time to say goodbye" (Brightman & Bocelli) played to her entry. But I didn't cry.  I cried when I read replies to my last post because I know you understand.  Unless you have direct experience with Cancer - you never know what goes on behind closed doors and to some extent I resented the tears that people shed.

We left the Crem to "Always look on the bright side of life" It certainly...

    Fed up and scared

I have a huge, mega phobia about anything to do with hospitals. I have surprised myself by having surgery, 30 goes of chemo and a port a cath fitted. The surgery worked, none of the chemos (4 different drugs) worked so my stage 4 cancer is progressing. My port a cath didn't work either so I have depended on one little vein which has now given up. After a traumatic digging around I couldn't have my treatment last week so they tried to put a PICC line in but I was so terrified I couldn't stop shaking...

    Back from Hols

    25th July 2011

Well its been a while since I`ve had time to update my blog so here goes .

A month or so ago we had a fairly stressful period with one thing and another and the Mac nurse thought it would benefit us all to have a weeks respite. We arranged for dad to go in the local nursing home and Al and I booked a  weeks holiday on the Isle of Skye. Our Macmillan nurse is absolutely fantastic with support she gives to all of us . Anyway we have just returned from a wonderfully restful...

Everything is falling down around me !!!!!!!!

Well we never got away weekend as planned. This damn dizziness is driving my Dave mad (and to drink). Not so good as not stable on his feet, now has an added wobble!

So, I decided that while the caravan is on our drive I would give it a good clean. Off I trot with hoover, black sacks and dusters while the dogs whine and wimper thinking I'm going without them, daft sods, left front door open so they could see, worse than kids.

First thing I noticed was the fire, it was hanging off one of its...

    cyberknife fiasco

After being told in Feb this year that one of my tumours had grown again, (I had 6 months of chemo in 2009) I was overjoyed to learn that I may be suitable for cyberknife as it seems that only this tumour is active.   Being under one of the NHS London hospitals that were getting a cyberknife machine this summer, I felt that another 6 mnths of chemo to try and shrink it back down again first, would be worth it if it could be obliterated completely.   then I started hearing all the rumblings about funding,...

    Not a Match!

Found out yesterday that my husbands sister is not a stem cell match for him!  He took in quite badly actually - more panicky than anything, saying things like ... what if they cant find anyone.

I guess we move to the donor register now!  Chemo begins 9th August

    My First Blog

I feel this is slightly misleading "cancer experiences" doesn't quite fit someone who's in remission. I'm not quite sure how to start this or how to say what I want to say so apologies if I ramble somewhat.

Really I think I want this post to be a big smile because this week for the first time I had a muscle pain and didn't think it was cancer.

When I realised that I completely accepted and wasn't worried about my physio's diagnosis of a problem in my good shoulder it...

the rebel no more's 'what I'm thinking about today...'(not very exciting I'm afraid)

Seeing as I inflicted you all with my moaning and whining the other day about nowt really,  I thought I would write some non-whiney stuff.... not sure if you will make it to the end or not, but it's good for me and you don't have to read it do you, so... here goes again....

Have you ever noticed how in every leaflet etc you are given about cancer, treatment etc , everyone in it is gardening and usually dead-heading roses..?. So much for finding a new rebellion- seems I have a future of pruning...
