Not a Match!

Less than one minute read time.

Found out yesterday that my husbands sister is not a stem cell match for him!  He took in quite badly actually - more panicky than anything, saying things like ... what if they cant find anyone.

I guess we move to the donor register now!  Chemo begins 9th August

    Hi Jules

Sorry to hear that your SIL is not a match.  I dont think I appreciated the possible impact when they told me that my sister wasn't a match.  My sister was devistated as I knew she would be.  It was hard to tell her, I was more worried for her than for me.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that they find your husband a suitable donor.

As always, the waiting is hard, but these processes take time because of all the tests they have to do to ensure the match.  They found me a 100% match donor reletavely quickly, by the time I had completed my chemo (nearly 4 months) the donor was in place.

Take care and keep in touch.

    Jo
