Blogging on the Online Community

Have you set up a blog and need help managing this? Have you been thinking about setting up your own blog but not sure how? We wanted to let you know there is step by step information and video tutorials to help you.

In our Help Pages, the ‘Blogs’ section has step-by-step instructions and short video tutorials to help you set up your blog. Recently, we have added a new page to help you manage your blog. This includes easy access to revisiting your blog and how to manage your blog post drafts if you are still editing them.

New help page: How to manage your blog

What is a blog?

A blog is used to help someone diarise their experiences. Setting up a blog is like creating a virtual book, where you can add blog posts like pages of the book. Blogging can be a helpful way to express your feelings and process your personal experiences. We have explored this in the writing for healing blog.

Laurel, known as 'Writing Lola' on the Online Community, has been using writing to help cope with and navigate a bowel cancer diagnosis and treatment. Read this blog post to hear why Laurel used writing as a coping mechanism.

If you’re still not quite ready to set up a blog on the site, that’s ok. There are still other ways you can still use writing as a support tool. Read the Writing for healing blog for tips and suggestions to help you get started.

We would love to hear if you find writing helpful. Tell us in the comment box below how writing has helped you.

If you need any help with using the blog section of the Online Community, please don’t hesitate to email Community@macmillan.org.uk or send a private message to the Moderator account.
