    braving town without hair

Today i actually went shopping with my daughter, decided to hold my head uo high and look people in the eye, happily no-one even gave me a second look thankfully and i enjoyed, if thats what you can call it, buying matching fancy scarves, the type you wear around your neck, and plain tee shirts to match.    Not looking forward to tomorrow though, bloods done today but tomorrow its the meeting with oncologist, always nerve wracking i think. What is really lovely is the friends thats have now turned...

    Rough ride
    Hi

The past 3 days have been awfull, constant sickness, weakness and generally feeling crap.

I don't think you can describe the sickness really unless you have experienced it, my entire body feels sick. Not just a stumoch sickness but all over. There is also a smell which I relate to this a sweet sickly smell that comes from my skin, urine, and anything else you care to mention. The smell itself makes me feel ill.

This is the longest period of sickness of the 3 cycles so far, although...

  • My Amazing Dad
    Daddy's girl...

I feel so up and down at the moment. I literally feel like my heart is physically breaking at times....I can burst into tears in the middle of a coffee shop (which i did the other day which caused a lot of stares!)...and I just feel so helpless. My dad is very very tired....he last had chemo 4 weeks ago & apparently it is due to the cumulative effects of the chemo. Some days I look at him and I think he has lost his "spark"...he seems down....he is exhausted & he's not his normal jokey...

    Day 84

What a difference a day can make, thats all I can say.  My poorly wife has been better today, not 100% but at least she has eaten.  Myself, I have had a good day today.  I think not having a treatment for a couple of days gives you a real lift, I have heard that you can bounce back from the chemo and radio at weekends - whereas yesterday I still felt washed out and not entirely right, today has been a different matter.  Interestingly there definitely looks like there is a stomach bug heading around the...

    3 weeks after 1st chemo

well here i am, relatively well although i have now lost my hair. Just in case there are familys out there whose loved ones are really ill after their first chemo, IT WILL PASS, really and truly, i could'nt even drink water, or sit up, i just wanted to close my eyes and not wake up, very harrowing for my family i can tell you, but after about 6 or 7 days i started to pick up, very weak, but eating more than i have done for years and drinking normally. Today i have showered, dressed and put makeup...

    Day 83

Yesterdays was a somewhat short entry to my diary - its not that nothing happened, its just that I really didn't feel like writing much.  Today has been a better day, of sorts, I have managed to eat better (more on that in a moment) and the nausea hasn't been as bad.

One thing has cropped up though - how on earth do I tell the difference between nausea caused by the chemotherapy and nausea caused by a stomach bug?  Today my poor missus has really not been well, headaches, stomach ache, severe...

    Another day over
    Hi

That's the last of the oral tablets taken, thank god.

I have felt very weak and lathargic since yesterday morning, so decided to have a lazy day today but I can't even do that comfortably. I have already been sick twice today even though I have been taking the anti sickness cocktail of ondansetron and metoclopromide. The sickness has started a day earlier than the last two cycles, so I'm hoping its not a bad omen and I'm in for a rough ride. The weakness I didn't really experience...

She has become very confused, can't remember words or their meaning and now has difficulty expressing herself she just can't get her words out. She gets confused about the time can't read the clock etc Has the worse happened and the cancer is has spread to her brain ? Has anyone else any experience of this? Tanks

    Day 81

Its been a day of ups and downs really, got another radio session out of the way without incident, had quite a nice quiet day with the kids (who have been really good) we even managed to escape the house for a bit.

The downside has been feeling generally crap, I had a horrible headache most of the morning - the doctors have told me to avoid paracetamol as it lowers your temperature and they need to track my temperature carefully to watch for infections. Bit tired too, not too bad though, but I have...

    fuzzy

Not a real blog, just a blog in progress - - - - in my head. Which has been pretty fuzzy of late.

Although the fickle finger of fate has pointed its tip at my husbands beautiful behind (in my world only my opinion counts) the medical people who know stuff say the dodgy finger is responding to the cytotoxins and considerably reducing.

He has coped with Oxy & Capec really well and I almost feel fake for being here when I read some of the heartbreaking things some of you are going through. But my...
