    Three down
    Hi

Well that's me home with cycle three over and done.

Everything went very smoothly this time, in at 11 am, in the chair by 11.30, drip started by 12. All complete by 4:30.

This time I took a Ltr bottle of drink and along with 3 cups of tea drank this during the infusion. I had read before to drink plenty when getting the infusion, and wheel the drip to the loo when required, to make sure the toxins were being flushed. I did drink during the last Cycle, but not as much. So I'm hoping...

    Day 79

Well, despite my saying otherwise, today was my birthday. Attempting to put it back until after my treatments finish and I am at least some of the way back to health was a purely selfish idea I guess.  My family wanted to do something to mark the day, so we did.  A few cards, a few presents, an attempt at the cinema (an attempt only, sold out - should have booked the tickets earlier) which turned into a DVD instead. Nothing major - no party or cake (which I can't eat), but just enough to spend some...

    Day 78

So. Here I am.  Tomorrow is treatment day. I can't believe its finally here, tomorrow I get cooked by xrays.  Ho hum, time to man up, as the saying goes.  I can't avoid it, I simply have to do it, if I'm going to get sick then so be it.  I wouldn't mind if it was something I could spread about - misery loves company :-)

Instead let's think about what else tomorrow is.  My fortieth is tomorrow. Actually, no its not.  I can't think about my birthday, there is a dirty great cloud over...

RECTAL CANCER SURGERY, CHEMO THERAPY & REVERSE SURGERY

8 MONTHS AGO, I HAD SURGERY FOR RECTAL CANCER AND 6 MONTHS AGO, I STARTED CHEMO THERAPY. TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY OF MY CHEMO THARAPY. BY THE GRACE OF GOD AND MY POSITIVE MIND, I HAD A VERY LITTLE SIDE EFFECTS ON CHEMO THERAPY. ON JUNE 3RD I HAVE A PRE ASSESMENT FOR REVERSE SURGERY FOR MY ILEOSTOMY BAG. I HOPE I CAN FACE THE SURGERY POSITIVELY AND IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS, I WILL BE WALKING AS IF I NEVER HAD CANCER. IT ALL STARTED IN 2010, AFTER 3 EYE SURGERY FOR MY RETINAL SURGERY, WHEN I WAS STRESSED...

    Day 77

My stomach continues to gradually settle down, the tube site still aches and my stomach muscles feel tender still but the gas seems to be slowly easing.  It *is* bad though, the trapped wind is the absolute worst.  It even woke me up last night, sitting here now I can feel my shoulders start to ache which means another attack is imminent.

I have been getting daily visits from the district nurses, they are very nice and do the daily cleaning and care of the tube which needs to be done.  I'll say this...

  • This is a great resource.
I wish that American treatments were like British treatment

I'm glad that I found MacMillian. I haven't found anything like this in the US. The American Cancer Society tells you how to raise money for them. Their resources are telling you go to your state welfare office for help, and they'll give you a voucher for used clothes at a participating used clothing store. I just needed information.

What little information I got was almost all wrong. Then this is the only site where it's easy to read other people's blogs, and talk to each other. American...

  • After he has gone.......
    12 weeks
Cannot believe that yesterday marked three months since Doug's passing, most of it spent in a fog. Thursday saw me and my two girls scatter some of his ashes in the garden of remembrance under a beautiful cherry blossom tree. Very emotional but we did this as my eldest daughter wanted somewhere to go and remember him on her own and when she chose, she didn't feel that the memorial I have in our garden was for her. I am so glad she said something, apparently it took her weeks to decide to mention...

    Round three
    Hi folks

On Tuesday coming I have my pre chemo bloods and round 3 chemo on Wednesday.

I have to say I'm a bit apprehensive this time, after the sickness on the 2nd cycle.. Last time it was two days of feeling horrible head down the toilet sickness. Although as I said previously I would take the sickness every day if at the end of the treatment I had a good result

The wait this time for the next cycle has made me feel a bit down at times, I have felt very well physically and a few...

  • To hell.....and maybe back......

Was a slightly better day today for my hubby........first chemo last Wednesday....has hiccuped almost constantly....did some research and its apparently called "chemo hiccuping" ......have to admit never heard of it....summat to do with anti nausea meds or even some chemo drugs.

It's annoying him......i'm about to throttle him......but at least he isnt being sick......and seems less tired today too.
