Day 11 - Good News and Bad
yesterdays chat with the dietitian went well - despite eating for England I had still lost a kilo, but no panic just yet. Some milk shake mixes now on order (400 calories a pop!) which will see me straight for next week if needed. Had started chewing sugar free gum to take taste away. This worked for short periods which was good. Had a couple of welcome visitors last night, bit of light relief and good to talk about other more positive things rather than my illness. Bad news is that last night the...

Day 10 - Is a Change as Good as a Rest?
Yesterdays chat with consultant was positive, all seems on track with no complications. Apart from feeling as though I have someone elses mouth and a lack of taste the dryness wasn't as bad last night (must have been the pepsi cola). Will have a chat with the dietitian in southampton later today to see if there is anything that can make the bad taste in my mouth be a bit more bearable. Well yesterday had a slight change to routine as I went in to work to 'firefight' a couple of issues. This resulted...

  • OK, so this is how its going to be
Todays the day for the final diagnoses and care plan (I guess)

Phew, Ok In three and a half hours time, we will know for sure what it is and what they can do about it.

Endoscopy last week, drs reported a normal pancreas, normal bile ducts,Lyphomatous nodes not carcinomatous,6Cm diffuse mass adjacent to liver region

  • My Pensive
    Disbelief

    Evening All,

For me I have to say that the hardest part of this whole shitty journey is the fact that nearly three months later I am still completely confounded by the whole thing. I am suspended in this foggy painful disbelief that makes moving on completely impossible. It sounds normal doesn’t it – ‘oh, she’s in shock poor dear how could she comprehend such an awful thing’ but it feels different in reality, not nearly as simple and clean cut.

  • I need to get it out
    One week done !!

It was lovely for the weekend to get away from all this "stuff" not that we had a quiet weekend. The bit I hated was when people ask you how you are getting on and you have to go over all the details. I skipped over them as I have to think about them in the week but wanted the weekend free of it all. I know they are being nice of course, but none of them, unless they have been here, will have the faintest inkling of what it's like.

  • Getting my head around it
    Being a carer too

I've used the same title to enter a discussion in the Prostate Cancer Group.  Although my last blog entry was upbeat I now have worries for the future of this home with my wife and myself struggling to cope in it.

My pain is better from the pelvic fracture, I can walk about the house with one crutch, not two, so I can carry things in the free hand.  But my wife is becoming much worse with joint pains and she sleeps a lot by day.  We are due to see her consultant tomorrow and I'm going along with...
