This week I had my telephone consultation with my haematology nurse who is lovely. While I’m talking to her I feel ok but after the call I start worrying. It’s 8 months since my last appointment when the blood counts were good with my red blood cells up. I had my blood test last week and because I feel good I thought that the levels would be much the same. Although they are still acceptable the white count is now up to 17 and the red count has gone down so my next appointment is in six months but...
During the Coronavirus pandemic many people turned to the Online Community for support. Although the Online Community has always provided a space to access peer support, it really did mean so much to our members as they were still able to access support when most face to face services had closed.

Today we are back with the 13th volume of our longest running Community News Blog series ‘Cancer & me 35 years on’. Willo was diagnosed with Anal cancer in 1986 while living in Zambia. In this blog series Willo has been sharing her experience of living through and beyond cancer. After probably a year of suffering with a 'lump' in my throat and difficulty swallowing I finally took the decision to call the doctor. As we are in Covid times this was a case of phoning surgery, explain the symptoms, and if the lady on the other end thinks its urgent enough they get a doctor to call back. I explained that it was not urgent and I did not want the Doctor thinking it was.
Less than an hour later the Doc calls back, "what are your symptoms Mr Nash?"
Difficulty swallowing...
