We got another letter through for another scan today for next thursday so we will have to wait to see what this one shows up, im dreading it. My pops still being sick so im going to have to ring his nurse up and ask for advice as hes not keeping anything down and he really cant afford to lose anymore weight. I see the fear in his eyes and it breaks my heart. He told me i was the best grandaughter anyone could have and that he knows i would do anything for him and that brings him alot of comfort....
dad was brought into the hospice on monday morning. He has not had any sleep for the last 4 days. They brought a specialist into speak to him as he has alot of stuff going on in his head and doesnt want to worry mum or me. Last night they gave him 4 sleeping tablets and an injection. still no sleep. i think he is too scared to sleep as he thinks he is going to die and no one is around. I think we are going to take him home. I cant bear to see him crying. I want him to be happy.
I was thinking about the elements of my life that it is detroying besides my body.
How do you deal with it?
Its frustrating coming to grips withall that needs to be known about my cancer.
The more I thought about it the more I realised I should find one part of it that interests me and concentrate on that.
Im not interested in any of the physical aspects Im interested in the psychology of cancer.
So that might be my niche somewhere I can contribute, the psychology of cancer, but not as a psychologist...
My Mum aged 79 is pretty poorly at the moment. She had breast cancer 20 years ago that came back 2 years ago & now looks like it's on the march through her body - potentially her brain. She's had a series of strokes - most recent one 10 days ago have affected her sight, memory and speech.
The consultants think that some of the symptoms that she's experiencing may be alleviated by a plasma exchange. Reading on this website, it sounds likely she will also need chemotherapy to prevent excess...
I thought I'd write a blog for anyone else who is diagnosed with this type of cancer.
I was diagnosed with a carcinoid tumour of the ovary in June 2010, following a miscarriage in April and an operation to remove some dermoid tumours that were found.
The carcinoid was found within one of the dermoids. On first diagnoses, I was told, that this is not a cancer that is going to kill me, and that I shouldn't need chemo, which were my first thought when hearing the word cancer. I was advised that...
Hi my name is tony and my fiancee was diagnosed with AML a week gone saturday ,,,,to say the least it has been alot to take in but Amanda is responding really well to treatment but just cant help worrying as you well know
I just wondered if anyone who has had an oesophagus stent fitted could tell me how they are getting on with it,if your eating has improved or any problems you may have had.Tom is having one fitted next week so it would be good to hear about other peoples experiences.
Took my pop to the hospital today to talk about chemo, We were feeling great thinking some treatment was finally gonna get started only to be told he cant have it because hes to weak. my pop, nan and me were devastated there never seems to be any good news. Thet think the cancer has spread to so off he goes for another scan. Im trying to be so strong for them both but its hard too when we keep getting knocked back. Im so frightned im going to lose him and just cant get my head round the prospect...
Today I went for my first bereavement counselling session. I left feeling that what has taken place was profound, for I felt as if I had opened up Pandora's Box with regards to my feelings. The depth at which I discussed my feelings really shook me and made me think. I hadn't previously thought about the complexity of the reasons why I feel the way I do. Obviously, there is grief. But I hadn't thought about the impact of my own powerlessness. I am a person who feels that they need to...
I should have had the last chemo of cycle 4 today, but received a phone call last night to say it was being delayed a week due to low neutrophils. Then , this morning I got another call asking me to come and have a blood test to see if I could have chemo after all. They were sorry to mess me around, they said , but the pharmacy had specially asked if I could come in. So off I went, had another test and..... still too low! What a surprise. I didn't really think things would have improved enough...
