My Mum aged 79 is pretty poorly at the moment. She had breast cancer 20 years ago that came back 2 years ago & now looks like it's on the march through her body - potentially her brain. She's had a series of strokes - most recent one 10 days ago have affected her sight, memory and speech.
The consultants think that some of the symptoms that she's experiencing may be alleviated by a plasma exchange. Reading on this website, it sounds likely she will also need chemotherapy to prevent excess protein being produced going forward.
The consultants want to see me tomorrow to discuss - has anyone any experience of someone so poorly and weak having gone through this procedure? I would be grateful for any information, hopefully I will speak to Mum's Mac nurse tomorrow...
