Post 525: Vagal nerve is a possible player in my AFib.
I’m getting fed up with the blinkin’ AFib which is happening all too often.
The local Hospice will be checking up on me around the 4th/5th October about the steroids they put me on in a holding pattern with 500 micro grams a day. I will await their call and tell them about the pain in my back but also the AFib too.
This would be a good time to have their input about my back though the pelvis and hips are really good. The steroids were given in response to the hip pain and back so I’m on course for real action.
Time will tell.
Well I’ve made it to the thin end of the week and I feel very full (stomach) and tired of feeling full. But my sprits are all over the place.
The opticians rang yesterday to advise me that because the blood test came back negative for diabetes it is assumed that my problem is a natural but aging clouding of my right eye. So my interval of eye tests will be adjusted to having one each year (not two years as it is now) and that would be the finish of it.
This is good news and I am happy to forget about it for now and endure one less problem.
Oh yes, I had an email and NHS app notification about the up and coming winter Covid and Flu jabs. I think Excavator has had them today. Anyway I’ve booked them for this coming Monday at the pharmacy, so far so good. Isn’t that better than the town hall location where 50 or more people attend on the roll on roll off service and slow the whole process down. At least this should be able to keep to a timetable; one hopes.
But the jabs are another reminder of the seasons changing and the year coming to its end. But we are all still breathing so that’s as good as it gets.
I’m trying to get my head around the counselling on Monday but actually the getting there for 9:30am without my Darlings fabulous car but I have my mini if it’s not wet. If it’s wet on the morning I will seriously consider taking the bus; but that leaves me with a half mile trek up the way, which I’m not sure how long it would take. I could ask a friend to drop me off (if it’s wet) darn this old leaky car. (Leaky from the front where the water splashes over the electrics and kills the car - for a while).
It’s just a challenge I need to overcome.
But with my bike not starting this week too I’m tired of old things and their wonderful characteristics. I don’t want the anxiety of “will I get there” on top of the actual “what’s wrong with me”.
Ha ha.
But I had a relaxing day while the cleaner cleaned. He was downstairs and I was happy to watch tv upstairs out of his way. My Darling too was upstairs and able to give her full attention to her elder sister on the phone/video. This was a call of mercy and would prove to be a lovely straight forward call that didn’t descend into the ground with her recent problems. Family matters are mostly emotionally biased especially this one, but as it’s sometimes hard to even start the conversation in the first place this was arranged and an easy call today. So my Darlings dread that the call might flounder was turned on its head and the chat turned to the exciting conversation about her daughter in Australia who has a baby due in a few weeks.
This will trigger her sister’s visit down-under with all the trimmings. A month away to visit three of her six kids over there. This baby is extra special because we are god-parents to the babies mum who has been through hell and back with nearly four years of in-vitro fertilisation. It’s taken its toll over the years and our elation and nerves about the process will end soon with the best gift of all.
We just hope for the best for everyone but it’s such a traumatic experience for the mum and dad.
Anyhow, the call went very well and when she was done on the call with the cleaner still singing downstairs as he dusted and vacuumed, our conversation could return to this positive for us. Namely tattoos and arranging our next ones. Ha ha.
I’ve got to wait a week and a day for pin-man and I can’t wait.
My Darlings freedom of the house returned with the cleaner finishing for the day and she could get on with a hot lunch of Caribbean sausages on mash with peas and gravy which is my favourite if the snorkers are tasty. Well these were hand made at the local butchers and full of Caribbean spices and were immediately steamy hot!
I absolutely loved them. Proper nice they were, and a fortification that stayed all day. Those sausages are keepers.
Later, after a few Haribo ‘sours’ I headed out for work. This was really painful and as much as I’d have liked to have ignored my ribs and back I couldn’t.
I did my time, my two hours of digitisation (which is coming to an end and I don’t know what’s next for me) I got home a plonked myself in a hot seat in the conservatory and waited for my body to react to the warmth and ease my aches.
My Darling had gone to the Nail Bar with her bestie and she was all bounce when she arrived home and after showing me her cut down fingernails we retired to the lounge and picked up where we left off which a series on tv about a couple of young pianists.
I had had a day that totally exhausted me and by 8pm and the long awaited start of the tv show “Celebrity Traitors” was on its new introductory episode for this new series.
I went upstairs to bed and took my comments with me that might offend the sensitivities of my Darling, and left her to ‘it’.
I used the time wisely that I had before I got to bed by filling the dosette box for my many pills.
It’s a dreary job but someone’s got to do it.
With my eyes telling me I need sleep I sercommed to dozing. Waking now and then with the phone or my remote in my hand and the bedside lamp still on.
I struggle like Excavator. A few hours here, a few hours there, but nothing you could call sleep.
Just naps between wakeful tv watching.
Having to rewind tv series all the time because I’ve napped through an hour long episode and the noisy adverts probably woke me only to have me puzzled as to who’s who in the story line. Ha ha.
So I wish you all a very sleepy night and a refreshed wake.
Take care,
It’s Friday tomorrow and the start of my long weekend. What can I do with my time off.
Answers on a postcard…
xx
PS
The AFib tonight has lasted for 13 hours, I’m tired but can’t sleep. I’ll have some naps today before and after my Big Sis arrives. Ha ha
I’m thinking that spices and that pesky Vagel nerve might be the cause of my regular AFib events.
Grrrrrrrrrr!

The photo is an idea of what I might like to get tattooed on my arm. The sleeve would take time, of which I have lots, and an appreciation to the drama of the parlour and the artwork. This is a “Sussex in the wild” tat sleeve. It’s a possible next step.
Love you all xx
