Am I doing the right thing

Less than one minute read time.

dad was brought into the hospice on monday morning. He has not  had any sleep for the last 4 days. They brought a specialist into speak to him as he has alot of stuff going on in his head and doesnt want to worry mum or me. Last night they gave him 4 sleeping tablets and an injection. still no sleep. i think he is too scared to sleep as he thinks he is going to die and no one is around. I think we are going to take him home. I cant bear to see him crying. I want him to be happy.

    Hi Treetop,

Its a natural fear your Dad has, the fear of the unknown. But if you think by bringing him home he will feel better having his family around him to give him support and peace of mind. You do what you and your Family think is best for him. All the best

and I hope you all get a good nights sleep.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xx

    Hi Tree,

You must do what you think is best for your Dad and Mum and Yourself. If you feel he would be happier at home and you can manage his care then go for it.

I will be thinking of you,

    Love Rosie

    Hi Teresa,

Do what ever would make your dad happy.  It has to be about your dad and you will feel much better knowing you have done what he wants.  Bringing him home won't be easy so make sure you take any support being offered.  If he wants to come home Teresa, bring him home!  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Caroline XX

We have brought him home. He is not ready for the hospice. His body is very weak but his mind is very strong.  So I will respect my dads wishes. He is got a lot going on his head and I think in the back of his mind he thought there would be a cure. Now he knows he is dying he is struggling to come to terms with it. But I can only just support him and be there. X
