    Well, it's march already and a few things have been going on since my last post.

    My consultant decided against another octreotide scan and went for a laparoscopy instead. They took my appendix out and biopsies from both of my ovaries, luckily he didnt see anything too bad so I managed to keep both of my ovaries, which I wasnt expecting, so chuffed to bits with that.

  • Ovarian Carcinoid Cancer

    So, I battled through the snow today (6 hour round trip) to get the results of my colonscopy. They showed no sign of carcinoid in the caecum. So I've got to go back and have the ocreotide scan again and then probably my ovary and appendix removed. Not quite what I was hoping for, but reading some of the other posts I guess I should be feeling happy.

  • Ovarian Carcinoid Cancer - Continued

    Well, it was results day yesterday, and I got a mixed bag really.

    There is no further evidence of carcinoid in my ovary which is brilliant, I may be able to save them now!! But they have found (in the preliminary report) a mild but definite uptake in the Caecum, which is near the appendix. This may be the primary source.

    This means, next step colonoscopy and another follow up!

    I think on the whole this is good news…

    I thought I'd write a blog for anyone else who is diagnosed with this type of cancer.

    I was diagnosed with a carcinoid tumour of the ovary in June 2010, following a miscarriage in April and an operation to remove some dermoid tumours that were found.
