Stent

Less than one minute read time.

I just wondered if anyone who has had an oesophagus stent fitted could tell me how they are getting on with it,if your eating has improved or any problems you may have had.Tom is having one fitted next week so it would be good to hear about other peoples experiences.

hi marianne, my hubby clive had one fitted 8-9 weeks ago after having two stretches done that didnt help. he felt pretty rough the first few days after having the stent fitted but slowly but surely he made progress. he was very apprehensive about eating solids for a while but now he can eat anything he wants or fancies its like having a new man! just remember that once tom is feeling better and ready to try little and often and make sure he chews properly. hope this helps anything else you want to know just ask........jane x

    Hi Jane,

Last year I had a nasal/gastric tube in for 6 mths

they couldnt fit a stent because of infections. But I

managed to loose 2 stone in weight. Which I quickly put back on when they removed the tube. I

am more or less back to eating what I want, with the

odd exception. So tell Hubby and your yourself it

takes a bit of time before all will return to normal.

All the best and Good Luck for next week.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xx

Good luck with the stent my husband had one and was able to eat and drink really well.  He used to have fizzy drinks when he ate to help wash the food down.  If you check online there are diet and meal ideas to download.  He was also advised to sit upright for about 20 mins after eating.  Take care.
