Hi guys, I need help. My step dad has meothelioma. He was given 7 months to live in February, has had two lots of chemo and has now been told that surgery may be option. His surgeon is one of a handful of surgeons that perform this surgery. It is to remove his lung, pleura, pericardium around the heart and also the diaphragm. I have heard such awful reports about this operation, and a lot of Surgeons refuse to do it. We find out more on Monday but I need help. This operation has shown to worsen...

I'm 19 years old and I feel as though I'm 200.When my mum was little she had a tumour in her cheek which was later removed, When I was young I remember my class mates teasing me and asking what was wrong with her, snarling and asking "Has she just come back from the dentist", because of her slightly larger cheek. but to me nothing was wrong,...

    DIEP flap reconstruction

I had grade 3 breast ca in 2007, left mastectomy, axillary clearance and big fight for life after 3 infections, so no chemo, just radio and herceptin.  Asked for DIEP recon. last year and told 3 month waiting list.  Well, one year on I have just been cancelled for a third time!  Its so frustrating as I know this op is a biggy and I am trying to keep as well as poss.  My husband doesn't want me to have it as he says I look okay to him and he doesn't see what I see - exactly!  I am 52 and feel like...

  • Hole in my life
    Day 3
It is the third day since my mum passed away. Ad still in total shock. Whilst my mum was alive I couldn't comprehend the thought of one day her not been her and would break down if she mentioned it even in a light hearted way. Less than a year agoi was talking to a friend about how one day cancer would kill my mum and cried hysterically for 3 hours......I haven't cried nearly as much. In October 2008 my mum was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, after being treated, fighting so hard...

  • My mothers carer.
    Mothers/funerals/Ava/new kitchen!!!
Well what a busy time it's been, I feel as though I'm in a whirlwind and just want everything to slow down! Uncles funeral was brilliant ( strange description, I know) the sun was shining, the service was lovely and my little talk on uncle went down very well, I just talked about his funny little ways like how he told everyone in the queue his pin code, he had no idea it should be a secret and how he always greeted me with "hello beautiful", thinking that was reserved for just me...untill he started...
