1. Appointment with doctor ( mum reported also having bad headaches 2 - 3 days)
2. Doctor said not to headaches, suggested eye test, 62 day wait list, but got mum an emergency that day)
3. At hospital 1.30 same day, doing tests, some areas not got full eye sight.
4. the eye clinic said its not her eyes, suggest having CT scan
5. CT scan done also that day, its now 5.30pm, they have results, they can see a mass in the brain.
6. its not our hospitals main area, they will inform Southampton hospital ASAP, but may take them about 2 weeks to get back to us.
7. the next day, they contact us to say they need to do an MRI scan, this was done, results sent to Southampton
8. Await call, but that week end, mum had very bad headache with sickness, loss of memory, so A&E she went.
9. mum spent 3 weeks in hospital to try and control her sickness and headaches, the drugs were strong, the steroids are the worst, sent her as if she were mad, but we were strong and helped her.
10. End of January told of her having a very high grade and fast growing brain tumor, which affected her sight on the left hand sight.
11. 5th January OPPERATION day to get rid of as much as the tumor as possible, we were amazed, only one night in hospital, a small scar, they were great doctors.
12. then came the after bit, 30 visits to the hospital for radiotherapy and chemo tablets.
13. tablets made mum very ill after 3 weeks, so only radiotherapy given.
14. it was 30 miles to hospital and 30 miles back.
15. Mum has now had all treatment of radiotherapy.
16. mum has had a scan, the doctors have said that they are not happy at the results they have seen, they can see some activity of the tumor, not sure how much, as the brain has alot of swelling.
17. its a waiting game, still taking steroids, end of April await appointment for another scan to see what the situation is. Mums sight still not any different, we have to keep hold of here, to direct where she needs to go.
18. 4 - 6 weeks is a long wait.
