In August 2011 my whole world came crashing down and i was given the news that i had cancer! I had Hodgkins Lymphoma stage 4b. It didnt seem real. I was 19 year old! Before being diagnosed i was really ill and had nearly all symptoms of Hodgkins lymphoma so to finally know what it was and that there was something that could be done about it was quite a relief. I found myself saying to my consultant 'right when do we start treatment? the sooner the better'. After discussing everything with my consultant...
After my radiotherapy, chemotherapy and brachytherapy back in Feb-April, I went to see my consultant 22nd May. He did an internal examination and was very pleased with my response to treatment. He said my cervix appeared normal again and he could not feel any issues therefore was extremely happy with the results. He said there didn't appear to be much scar tissue and so this is a relief as well as it will make things easier in the future for intimate times between me and my partner and future examinations...
So now it is time to move on, and think about me. I need hugs and affection and not just from the kids, the kind you get from someone special. But first I need to remove David's things. Also to change my bed as someone new may not like to share the same bed I shared with my husband. The thing is the bed cost £7000 and is only 2 years old, it seems a shame to just throw it out, so the question is what to do with it.
Is it only me who thinks funerals are horrible things and should be banned? I'm dreading it. Maybe its because I found mum so have seen her so don't feel the need for a funeral? But then I remember when my younger brother died (sudden heart attack), my mum had to be virtually carried out of the church, her grief was terrible. She shouldn't have had to go through a funeral. It just seemed cruel.
Have been trying to do normal things ... but can't really. Finding it difficult to settle...
With all the channels of communication open to me I still feel unable to talk to someone directly. Words are easier to write and delete whereas talking leaves me unable to hold everything in and I'm sure people are bored of the wobbly lip and pretend dust in my eye. My partner's mother has, in the last nine months, been diagnosed with pancreatic, lung, liver and stomach cancer with cells recently discovered in her lymph nodes. After two rounds of aggressive chemo back in March we thought we were...
Well, that waiting for results game that sends us a bit bonkers is over… and the results are in:

Pat is still stable but needs an intensive amount of nursing and medical care. They will be coming to the ward in just over a week to give the next Ocreotide injection for the Neuro Endocrine Tumour.
Thoughts are beginning to turn to long term care and I have broached this with him today. Having said this, his heart is failing and it is not longer possible to consider a pacermaker, so anything could happen. One day at a time.
He is comfortable and being visited daily by either myself or my son...
