Looking for an open ear or two!

I was diagnosed with Carcinoid Cancer in March 2010. I had it in 2004 as well but had both tumors removed. My surgeon was 110% sure he got it all! Wrong! This time there is no chance of surgery, to many tumors.  When I was diagnosed I was told I had 4 inoperable tumors between my right lung & my liver. I thought my life was over at that point. I decided to go to CTCA (Cancer Treatment Centers of America) for a 2nd opinion. There I had a PET Scan. This showed that I didn't have 4 tumors, I had 20 to...

Many of my friends seem to have lost parents over the ast few months and so I am very luckyt to have 2 able and fighting fit parents who are taking care of thmselves and able to give me support via webcam and phone from 500 miles away. Children's nativity pays and toy services hve me bawling my eyes ot and last night...

    Angry

It is two forty five - in the morning...and I am angry.

So... I have written and deleted everything I want to say - because my anger won't help me/my husband or anyone else - and I could get sued...

All I WILL say to any "professionals' reading this - treat the individual not the cancer.

    Wigs Wheelchairs and Whisky

This week has been such a rollercoaster of emotions and events it is difficult to get it all in order, but here goes.   If you read the last blog you will know I had a bit of a downer after my last clinic visit but as always yours truly has picked herself up etc etc.        Some time ago just after my diagnosis I put in a claim on the terminal illness section of my life policy...on the one hand I was really hoping I would get the money as anyone would but on the other I knew that to get it my life expectancy...

    Biopsy resutls, surgery and chemo

Got the results back: para aortic metastatic germ cell tumour, seminoma.

Given the range of possible outcomes I’ll take that as a win - it should respond well to chemo

The tumour is physically impinging on my left kidney, and so to prevent that failing, and to make sure it’s working properly during chemo, I need to have surgery before chemo starts. That’s just simple day surgery (no need for a knife) – and I’ll spare people the graphic details, but it’s simply a stent to allow...

  • Pat's Carcinoid Blog
    Progress so far

The scans are now done. Tuesday was a long day with an injection in the am.  It took 7 attempts to get a line in as Pat has narrow veins. They finally managed it with a Paediatric Butterfly, which has a fine needle. We then had to go away and come back four hours later. They then had a camera problem unfortunately and were running an hour late.  By this time Pat, who has Parkinsons plus other things was getting exhausted, but he managed OK.   Staff were very nice indeed. Day two was straightforward...

  • cracks in family are massive....
happy update to situation with family

I received another call from my dad last Night, this is the 3rd call in 3 days after a Mexican stand off as my Sister put it lasting 3.5 weeks

I tried not to react as I heard his voice, but was instantly fearing more hostility. His tone was actually warm and he was quite friendly. Dad was ringing to say go ahead and book into the B&B for Christmas and said that someone had mentioned that the place was nice!

Have now booked B&B and train, so that is Christmas sorted. I don't think it will be...
