    Doom and gloom
Clive ended up in hospital last week from Mon evening to Saturday, his white count was really low and he developed a temperature, so they had to treat him with iv antibiotics. We couldn't believe it as there was no tv's or anything, totally boring! He is seriously glad to be home it was so depressing in there the bloke in the bed next to him died while I was visiting one night, and there is a lot of old people in there some in a bad way, its really not good for your state of mind. Anyway we did get...

Outlook for people with cancer of the gullet
Hi, I'm new to this site having just joined since my mum was diagnosed with Stage 2B oesphegal cancer. Wondering if any one has had any similar experiences to what I will describe and any useful information or words from people would be a great help. She was diagnosed in May and was scheduled for 4 weeks radical radiation which we were told would induce remission from the cancer (not a cure) and prevent further symtpons for a least 3-5 years. In June her symptoms from the cancer all of a sudden...

    First week of Chemo over....
... just 8 more to go! Actually, looking back over the week it hasn't been too bad. Hubby had Chemo last Monday and then on Wednesday he managed to fly to Glasgow on an overnight business trip. He came back on Thursday feeling ok - bit tired - but ok. He is amazing. I have struggled all week to convince him that he needs to rest more but I needn't have worried as by Saturday he was eager himself to have an afternoon nap. I think he's now realized that he has to slow down... He's eating well too...

How much suffering do you have to watch?
Mum got told that the cancer was now in her liver last Thursday. She came out of hospital, well my dad absconded with her on the Friday as he was disgusted at how she was being cared for and on the Monday mum was in high spirits, dressed and very talkative. The best she had been in months. As the days have gone on, all 7 of them, she has deteriorated with a speed I was not prepared for. Today she can no longer eat solids, she cried yesterday as my dad gave her her dinner as she could not face...

    Bags packed
Well. Jimjams are packed and i've updated ian's I pod for him. I just have to take the fuse out of his feeding pump so he's not tempted to snack after midnight (just kidding!). This time tomorrow he'll have been 'investigated' and should be home again. He looks better today than he has looked for weeks and although I am a quivering wreck, I am feeling quite positive. I have had it in my head that the cancer has come back and have been feeling really sensitive lately, but I have managed to convince...

    Hubbys brain tumour
This is the first time Ive used this site. My husband has a oligodendroglioma which was removed in January, they think they got it all out but not sure he's due scans every 4 months. He's 29 and we've read that this type often comes back? Does anyone have any idea or know anyone with this type? The doctors said it was grade 2, we dont know any other information. We are both finding it hard we have two small kids and the not knowing what to expect is the worst bit. We dont want to be optimistic if...

I am not going to get well
I have come to a realization (latent and out of denial/hope) that my cancer cannot be cured. Somehow I thought that my care team could make me all better. Why not? They make me feel better every time I have to see them. But now I know that I will never get better. How sad for me and everyone like me. How sad to know there is very little hope of a cure. My only hope is that I live longer than I think I have and not feel too badly about all of life that I miss out on and will miss out on. I...
