Outlook for people with cancer of the gullet

Less than one minute read time.
Hi, I'm new to this site having just joined since my mum was diagnosed with Stage 2B oesphegal cancer. Wondering if any one has had any similar experiences to what I will describe and any useful information or words from people would be a great help. She was diagnosed in May and was scheduled for 4 weeks radical radiation which we were told would induce remission from the cancer (not a cure) and prevent further symtpons for a least 3-5 years. In June her symptoms from the cancer all of a sudden intensifed, she had been in really good health up until the cancer, and she was admtted to hospital with pneumonia, and real problems swalloing. Her consultant has now said her treatment will be palliative radiotherapy for 2 weeks. Thanks, hope I can be of help to anyone else

Hi Cheryl, thanks for the response.  Don't know about you but it does help being able to talk to other people who are going throgh the same experience.  Sorry to hear about your partner, I hope the chemo kicks in real soon and he has the benefits from it.  My mum's on her 6th day of radio and sore from it already, we're up in Manchester.  Take care x
