For a long time, I’ve been looking for a community I could connect with.
Unfortunately, where I live, people speak a Slavic language, and after 13 years as an immigrant, I still don’t feel as comfortable expressing myself in a Slavic language as I do in English. Finding a group I can truly connect with has been a challenge.
This morning, I found this community and wrote a post. By the evening, I saw that 48 people had viewed it, but no one had replied.
So I decided to start a blog. Maybe I’ll just write for myself. And one day, I’ll come back, read these words, and say, “Look at that! Just like those 3,300 kilometres you travelled, you went through this, too. And it’s over.”
My first dose of chemotherapy is done.
In my messages to my friends, I write: “One out of five done!”
The two days after the medication were hard. I think the nausea is more in my mind than in my body...
