First week of Chemo over....

1 minute read time.
... just 8 more to go! Actually, looking back over the week it hasn't been too bad. Hubby had Chemo last Monday and then on Wednesday he managed to fly to Glasgow on an overnight business trip. He came back on Thursday feeling ok - bit tired - but ok. He is amazing. I have struggled all week to convince him that he needs to rest more but I needn't have worried as by Saturday he was eager himself to have an afternoon nap. I think he's now realized that he has to slow down... He's eating well too. He has three meals a day and even a glass of wine with dinner Also, twice a day he has a concoction of raw fresh fruit and vegetables that have been mangled in the juicer. The Oncologist did advise me to give him only those raw fruit/veg that can be peeled during the Chemo treatment in case of infection. Again, as instructed, we've stopped all the vitamin/immune building supplements that he was taking pre-chemo - he just relies on the healthy food and fresh juice. I noticed that he's stopped drinking coffee altogether (just gone off it) and he's mainly wanting fish or chicken to eat. He's become a Nutrionist's dream... There's not alot of negative stuff to report - just minor stuff. He doesn't feel like going out even for a little walk despite the wonderful weather. Oncologist nurse said he needs to get a bit of exercise as it will help with the problem of taking medication and not being able to go to the loo. This has caused him to feel quite bloated and uncomfortable. It's our 26th wedding anniversary today and the sun is shining ... it's also a Bank Holiday on our little island so perhaps I can persaude him to have a bit of a walk even if it's just along the prom. Day 8 of Cycle 1 Chemo is tomorrow. It will only be a short visit to the hospital - they said it will take about 1 1/2 hours including hydration. I had better go and bake that cake - have to look after the nurses. Bye everyone and thank you all for your wonderful support! love T x
