yesterday when i was sitting in the waiting room patiently awaiting the call out of my name to be ushered in to see my onc before my next chemo tomorrow i couldnt help but notice the lady sitting across from me .....its funny how you notice the slightest things about people it was obvious that shed lost all her hair like myself and she had the loveliest turban on ...after about twenty minutes she caught my eye and i smiled and for the next hour we chatted like old friends by the time her name was...

Well, this wasn't how I thought things were going to go, given the fact that up till last Wednesday consultants were telling me they didn't think anything was wrong. Last Wednesday morning I spoke to a gynae consultant about my abdominal pain and bloating and he said he would do a laparoscopy if i was so worried but he didn't think he would find anything significant i my 4cm ovarian cyst was perfectly normal for a woman of my age. He said i may just have to learn to live with whatever...
Hi all,
It has been a bit of a nervous wait for my consultant appointment. Although I try to stay positive i wasn't too sure if the recent lot of chemo had made a real difference. However, I am glad to say that the cancer has been greatly reduced, it does not affect any organs and the CA125 is 19. PHEW! I am feeling well and do not need any more treatment at present but I will have a checkup and blood test every two months. My consultant had already told me that they are looking to control...
Hi all - time for an 'emotions' update. Weeks ago, before my diagnosis, a colleague of my partner invited us to a Mexican themed get-together at her house. I had even bought a 'chilli pepper' outfit for the event (everyone else went as a Mexican Bandit). Come Saturday, the day of the event, I was completely torn about whether or not to turn up. I half wanted to go because it was a chance to forget everything, and yet I knew that there would obviously be questions which might ultimately...
I dont believe it! I've been so busy that 6 months have flown by without me noticing.
Mum is still alive and kicking. She recovered well from her heart attack last August but mentally and emotionally it did take its toll on her.
I'm half way through my college course (Complementary therapies, Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology) which I'm enjoying and hating at the same time. My brain cells are so slow that any assignment that should take 6 hours usually takes me about 3 full days. I...
Having been diagnosed with melanoma back in November last year, I have since been to theatre twice. The first time was 24/12/10 as a day case to have the majority of the cancer removed and then I had to go back on 14/01/11 to have the rest of the surgery completed. It was done in two parts due to it being close to Christmas.
The surgery was more extensive than I had expected. The melanoma which was greater than 10mm was removed and then a further 3cm of good skin was removed from around where the...
