    Inside Ellen's Head..

The other night, I phoned my mom. I wasn’t sure what I needed, you never outgrow wanting to hear your mother’s voice. We talked for a long while, and I told her how frustrated I was with postponing chemo and things not seeming to go according to plan. The next day I went on to find an email waiting from my mom. It had an enclosed video and a quick note – Praying with you… you know this already, here’s a refresher
When I opened the video, I quickly realized ...

    Battle of cerebellar metastasis
After several phone calls by hospital staff, and a couple of further scans, he was transferred to St. George's hospital, for a craniotomy to remove the solitary cerebellar metastasis. He was in hospital for about a week. In December 2010 he had an MRI scan which showed he was clear, and didn't require radiotherapy as there were no signs of systemic disease.
However the surgery has left him unstable on his feet, and he now requires a walking stick for stability around the house. He requires...

    The Headaches
At the end of August, the bank holiday Monday, David was doing some DIY work and banged his head (quite hard), I didn't think anything of it, did the cold compress and checked for a bump - nothing and he said I was making a fuss about nothing. It turned out this was true, but he didn't know that at the time!
On the Tuesday he came home with a bit of a headache, and took a couple of paracetamols. Over the next week the headache remained, but he managed to go to work and said it was probably...

Diagnosis and Treatment of T3N0M1 adenocarcinoma OGJ
When David went for the endoscopy, the nurse informed us that they had found something and had taken a biopsy, things moved very quickly following this and we had further tests and hospital visits and were informed that David had Oesophageal cancer. The biggest question we were asked by all the health professionals we met was how did we spot it as it was very early. This type of cancer is usually picked up in later stages, this was fortunate for David as it was operable.

    There was a trial for...

    In the Beginning
On January 30th 2009 David and I went out for a meal at the Cap in Hand Pub for my birthday, during the meal he started to choke on his food - a couple of times, and couldn't finish it.
He was off work with depression and had choked on his food a few times and felt nauseas in the mornings for the past few months, but had put it down to the stress/depression. But the meal was relaxed as it was during the afternoon and we didn't have the children with us.
He was due to see the GP the next...

I'm a happy girl this weekend for the first time in weeks. I didn't realise how much I've missed my family and extended family and seeing them has made me push harder for my degree and its given me the energy to keep going on :D

Enjoy and thanks for reading it

    So it all begins...................

Well things are really on the move now,Russell has his PET scan on tuesday and pre chemo checks on wednesday chemo starts within a week from then.

We will will find out within the week what the computer decideds his chemo drugs will be, has he's been accepted on the 'REAL 3' trial with a 50/50 chance of having Panitumumab.

The good news we had was that there has not been much change between his two CT scans, although they're still concerned about the lymph node in his neck, his staging...

Would of liked to do a positive blog

I really wanted todays blog to be positive, instead of my usual moaning ones.  Unfortunately fate has stepped in again and I cant, Positive thinking is just not working at the moment.

Before I start I would just like to thank everyone for their blogs they really do help and I apologise that I haven't replied to any.  I have tried on many occassions to reply each and every one touches me whether its good or bad, and I would love to respond. But as I write a reply it just doesn't seem the right...

    My Lovely Wife Julie 15

Thanks to all for your words of support, I do appreciate them.

We have just had a good couple of weeks.  Our 31st Wedding anniversary was on the 3rd and I booked a table at the same place we had our reception all those years ago.  Thankfully the place was still up to standard and we had a lovely lunch outside in the sun.

Yesterday afternoon, without warning, there was a small amount of vomit prior to her afternoon nap. During last evening there was a lot. Today its 11pm as I write and the District Nurse...

  • Bubbly's Diary
    In Limbo

How does one keep being positive when SO many things happen?  Things that aren't related, not health related, just life being crap?

Friends getting ill, ex-partner having a child that you can't ever have, losing your job, your own problems (!), protecting family?

My standard response is normally 'I'm fine thanks' or 'I'm good thanks' when people ask me.

I think my heart might be broken, it hurts so much.  Bubs will continue to be 'bubbly', but my heart hurts and I don...
