    How it all began...

It is actually strange how this all started, because at first it had nothing to do with cancer at all, well so we thought. Just before xmas 2012, my gran had a stumble down a flight of stairs, bumping her head, face and pride. After hours of speaking to her i eventually managed to get her to go to the doctors to be checked over. At the doctors after investigation the doctor decided to send her home to rest and make an apt with the optician as he thought she was showing signs of having a cataracts...

    It's been a while.........

It's been a while since I started with all best intentions.....so here I am back again to share with you where I am now.........

The last month has been awful. Delays in hospital treatment have meant that they had to forcibly insert a stent and now I can't eat normally and it's hard to find the positive things to focus on. I was in hospital for a week as I just couldn't stop being sick and when I was home the drugs were all getting too much. I got my daughter to look at the side effects of the...

    Appetite

Husband is hungry tonight. Had his brekkie and lunch. Tea tonight (fish, oven chips, peas (lazy I know but had been at work too)) then fresh fruit with custard, capec and now mars bar. Says he feels stuffed but still hungry. I say go eat. While you can.

Not sure how or why this has happened, maybe because the sun came out today?????

Or he had his hair cut for first time in ages ?????

Or he stopped taking the wellman vitamin couple of days ago (contains folic acid - bad for the tingle feet /hand...

    Wobble Over

Right apart from a stinking cold I am back to my old self again, feeling a bit more positive, thanks for all who have made me feel better with their advice.  So I start radiotherapy next thursday and in theory I should be still on a treatment break but feeling quite rough with this cold which isn't like me, but then I'm not me anymore I am the new cancer me.

Well I will still try to shake this off and go out for a couple of meals or something and then the daily grind of travelling from Southend...

  • DFSP... Nope can't say as I have heard of it.
Life is not as I knew It.

The hardest part for me is the speed with which life was turned up side down once the true diagnosis was reached. The brutality with which DFSP smashed into my life and wrenched out of my hands so much of my life,(maybe for a period of time)  its mind blowing. Its hard to express this to loved ones because they are all willing you better, hoping its all going to be alright, and its not that I am not a fighter but there are times when I just want to scream 'this is awful!' .I have never been in hospital...

    Got Scan Results :(

Just got back from the hospital with not good news, my pelvic tumour has more than doubled in size to 8cm in 6 weeks and is what is causing my bladder not to work, my lung mets have grown but not as drastically.  I am now booked in to start 4 weeks of radiotherapy every day at London on the pelvic growth, after that i will be going on Votrient (pazopanib) a new drug.

Trying to stay positive but man it is hard, i feel like crap, have got a stinking cold to boot.

Just can't help thinking this is the...

    Its Not A Keloid Scar

For so long nearly two years, the diagnosis had been simply a harmless keloid scar which was growing and angry, YES a nuisance, the size of my fist, ugly and painful but nothing sinister.

However it became apparent by the look on the medic's face that he profoundly disagreed, at this moment I felt sick, I thought  'if it is not a keloid scar, then what is it?'

Soon I would learn the term DFSP!

    Day 27
This blog seems to be helping me, writing down exactly how I feel seems to let me lift a little once it's out of my head! Yesterday was 7 weeks since we got married on valentines day and tomorrow will be 4 weeks since my darling husband passed away, isn't it funny how time is measured in weeks, not so long ago it was days, before that hours... I look at photos of us and our family every day and I find this makes me smile as I remember the day the pic was taken, invariably I end up in tears. Fridays...

    Day 26
Funny day today, a guy I work with has a new baby in his life and this has helped take the focus off me a little at work which I like, I'm not a natural at being the subject of attention. I'm managing to go to work for a couple of hours in the morning before an overwhelming tiredness hits me about 11am and I have to leave, I try not to return straight home as there is no real reason to be at home apart from feed the cat! Today I feel very lonely, I have good friends who support me a lot but its not...

    Normal

So ooo ooo, The world is still turning and the worst of the oxy is out of his system. To be confirmed on next oncology but seems that the multi-function vitamin pill he's been taking to try keep immune system up contains enough folic acid to cause some of the cold sensitivity. A chat for me to have with the nice lady at the chemist chain then.

    In a nice way.

In himself things are looking positive. I get top trumps on the aches and pains. Pretty sure if I could get good sleep the sympathy pains...
