    24 Hours On...
And I have slept for over 16 hours of it so nothing too much to report. Had another visitor yesterday's evening which allowed us to catch up with some things 'real world' but mainly just chewed the fat as to how long this recovery is taking. Still, I look back on this time last week and I am felling much better. When compared to yesterday however I still feel the same. I am sure recovery can't be far away now and will hope tomorrow brings it or even a small part of it.

  • BronB's Lump in the Neck
My first post on the day I got the news about my ACC lump.

So it seems that Acinic Cell Carcinoma is flipping rare. I'm sure loads of cancers are really rare and this is my first foray to see what I can find about my cancer.

I have found a website that has lost of information about ACC - it can be found at:

    http://www.aciniccell.org/index.html

    What else? What else?

I know at some point over the next few days that my emotions are going to be all over the place. For now though I am thinking about the various actions I can take, what I need to tell...

    Living with abiraterone

After a hectic few days and nights the storm seems to be settling today.  The symptoms have ranged from energy to lethargy, optimism to pessimism, sleeping well and not sleeping well at all.

By day, all was well until two days ago when the flow started to seize up.  I was having both pain and frequency by day as well as night.  Yet the symptoms were not quite like the unrinary infections I had some years ago.  So I upped the fluid intake.  Two nights ago was very difficult and I felt almost at retention...

    Every Effort to Get Better
Almost three weeks post my last RT and I can happily report that I feel over the worst of my pains and side effects. I still however await the eureka moment when I can hand on heart state that I am truly feeling better. Pain is being efficiently kept at bay by use of the long term syringe driver mechanism as is the anti sickness. Have now finished antibiotics so the meds ritual really just consists of a few various mouth rinses and fluids through the PEG tube. These are topped up with 2-3 pints...

    On The Mend...

So now back at home and at long, long last am pleased to report a daily improvement in my health (first time since back in early November!).  Whilst not wanting to tempt fate the past two nights have seen better sleep patterns and although waking up with a sore throat I actually feel as though I am now officially on the mend after radiotherapy treatment.  Not feeling as sick as much, seem to be a little more energetic, appetite coming back (as soon as pain has gone I will be getting food and drink...

  • Dear Husband, I will be there for you, every step of the way, right by your side.
Never underestimate the power of a kiss.

    H is improving daily. Great.

H's neck is half recovered. Great.

H's mouth ulcers are on the decline. Great.

    Morphine dose slightly reduced. Great.

    Awake during day more. Great.

    Spots have gone. Great.

Four teaspoons of the blandest soup in the universe eaten. Great.

Laughing at own jokes again. Great.

    Reading again. Great.

    Weight is stable. Great.

    BUT best of all ....................

I can kiss H on the lips once more.

  • A Journey
    Jotting down (3)

Called mum first thing in the morning, my little niece is
there, so she sounds very cheerful. Still got fever and back pain. But with a
young child in the house, she feel life again. In comparison to Western world, Chinese
people have greater attachment to their family. It goes both ways. Not only
young people stay with their parents even after they got married, but also, the
older generation treating their grandchildren better than their own. They spoil
them as much as they can. Of course this create...

    A Week To Forget...
Back into Hospital. Another bug picked up while defences down and admitted to hospital last Sunday (always happens at a weekend) to be on the safe side. Back to the chaotic organisation surrounding southampton hospital. Put in a holding bay initially where the nurse offered a range of alternative mouth rinses, each tasted as horrible as the next. Then the good news, they had found me my own ensuite room. I was scuttled by bed to find the room with a few teething difficulties. It was right outside...

    Day 5, abiraterone

The 'wonder drug' finally arrived by courier van yesterday afternoon.  Opened the pack and read the instructions.  I am to take abiraterone on an empty stomach, not less than two hours after a meal and not less than one hour before eating. (!)  My colleagues on the Prostate Cancer group know all this of course. Prednisolone too, a drug I have always hoped to avoid; now it's supposed to help me.  So, as meals are variable in this house, I took it in the middle of last night.  I have to get...

  • A Journey
    Jotting down (2)

Life is so unpredictable, i think our attitude towards this will make the different.

I think no one ever imagin one day they would searching in this site for information and support. I never think i will end up in England, having my own family here. Thousands miles from where i grown up, having my first job, my first love and a world i have try to build. Sometime even with my husabnd beside me, or standing in my garden, i still feel it is so unreal. Never in a million years i could guessed my life...
