3pm
And so at lunchtime the internet died again. It's still not back and so I'm on Word writing this for later.
I missed the end of Doctors again because I was lying flat on my back while they scanned my radiation level. The news is good. It was 1164 yesterday and at 2pm it was 258, so I'm kicking it out a fair old rate. When it reaches 30 I can be around small children again, and the only ones to worry about are my neighbours' pair (cute little buttons both of them).
I could go home...
When I started this blog, it was not my intention to cast myself as a quackbuster, but it seems to be turning out that way, which is surprising considering that I'm a complementary practitioner myself (or was, retired now). Whenever I hear about someone who has 'cured' themselves of cancer, my hackles rise. I can't be alone in this. So when I read recently about a certain Kris Carr who 'had stage IV cancer that doctors could do nothing about. She became vegan, cut out sugar and...
I finally got the hair-dryer and the nurse changed the shower-head. They have a filter in them that gets blocked up quickly. My hair was almost dry from being in the turban for so long, but I kept my head in the warm stream of air for longer than I needed. It felt so nice - ah, the simple pleasures! I put it in my usual zig-zag parting. I can't be doing with all the faff of a "style", and my hair is normally flattened under a motorcycle helmet when I go out, but this makes it more interesting. And...
Well, I'm sorry to say it but the showers are a let down. Last night, after struggling to get more than a dribble that ran back on the wall, I called the nurse to help. She partnered me in a kind of radiation two-step with her behind the lead screen and me trying to keep as far from her as possible. With a lot of coaxing from her it managed to achieve a weak flow.
The lead screen - aka nurse's dancing partner!
I'm supposed to drink plenty of water to flush out the radiation and take plenty...
Oops! Blood sugar 2.4. Dextrosol get. Nom!
7.30pm. Blood sugar is up in the 7s. Better.
And Skyping with BF is good. I recommend it. Phoning is good but being able to see each other makes all the difference to me. I resisted doing it for ages but I can see myself becoming hooked. Anyway. Who do I know in California? he asks. No-one says I. Well, you've got a letter from them. Then I realised that it was the sticker for my new/old/refurbed laptop.
It's from an anime I like.
Kawaii, ne?
Now just...
So the wi-fi went down right on cue and so I'm starting this on Word until they sort it out and I can get back online.
I arrived at 8.30 this morning – early for my 9am appointment. The room wasn't ready and so I waited in a side room with a cool cloud screen on the ceiling -
- until lunchtime. That was usual hospital waiting-around stuff so I wasn't too bothered, plus the staff are very friendly.
A couple of students came and chatted to me while I waited, then the nurses took...
Tomorrow is R-Day and still no side-effects from the thyrogen that I've noticed, so apart from feeling angry with an eBay seller from yesterday I'm feeling not-too-bad.
I'm gathering the last few things together to pack and it seems rather a lot, although most of it is meds and washing stuff and not all of it will be coming back.
I'll do a final unpack and repack this evening but today is chill day and cuddle BF day.
I said I was going to do a list of tips to try and help other people...
