My Journey through Breast Cancer and Beyond. Blog - Family and Friends

There are a few things that I'd like to share with you. Throughout my ordeal, right from the start I have had amazing support from my family and friends.

They have shown great love. My children have been amazing and my youngest has shown fantastic ma
turity over these past couple of months, she's helped me so much especially now I'm recovering from my surgery, she is amazing and I love her very much.

My eldest daughter has helped me immensely, just by being at the end of the phone. When...

My Journey through Breast Cancer and Beyond. My Blog page 1

I was scared out of my mind when I found the lump, I immediately made an appointment to see my doctor although I was in two minds as I was terrified he's say it was suspicious and need to see a specialist, I was hoping it was nothing, but in my head I knew it wouldn't be. I am a strong person and decided I was going to just get on with it, didn't want to over think things as I would have crumbled. Just once I was tearful and that was when I told my children, but only after I'd been to see the...

My Journey through Breast Cancer and Beyond. An introduction.

    Hi all, I'm Shaz,

    This is my story,

2015 wasn't a very good start. I found a lump in my breast and it was cancer. This blog is about what happened, what I went through and what I'm about to go through.

I thought I'd let you know a bit about myself. I am 56 years young and a mother of three (Divorced), two grown up with families of their own and a 15 year old daughter living with me. Life has been a struggle financially for about 37 years after I left home. The one thing I'm proud of is...

    Day by Day

Thanks for the replies. Had a meeting with a Macmillan nurse on Tuesday. She was a good help. Waiting for  an appointment to have the stent fitted. Hopefully next week. Eating and drinking is a real concern now. One day at a time.

    Two Week Wonder

So I guess the last time I wrote here I was waiting to see whether the haematologist was going to take an interest in my breasts and unsurprisingly he said he was about blood not boobs and I was referred to see someone in the breast clinic to be seen within two weeks. The day after this news I went home for a week and a half so I was quite concerned I had missed the contact they might have made to make an appointment but if I am honest, not so concerned that I did anything about it. I was far too...

An update 3 years on and not looking good

Wow to think how scared and worried I was about my dad when this all started, and now as I lay in bed with tears falling into the pillow I would rather be back there then here.

Dad is not good, a shadow of the person he was before diagnosis and even after being diagnosed. I always felt lucky that dad had hardly any symptoms, to look at him you would never know he had cancer.

Now is a different story.  Since December dads health declined- nausea, vomiting and tiredness- oh and the cough that drains...

  • bone density scan / joint pain meds ? or. arthiritis
Do I go the full five years or call it a draw ??

I've been on anastrozole since march 2012, also have to have four weekly Arimidex (gossorine) injections. Throughout I have suffered with numb hands , stiff joints and hand pain at night. In the night I say to myself I'm going to quit, once I'm up and around I say to myself - awww I will continue. I've been a steady 7stone 11 , even after the birth of my daughter. I got on the scales today and I'm 8 stone 12. I'm sure it's the meds . I feel depressed and sluggish so my question is - can I quit the...
