    The road to Recovery
Well once more into the breach dear friend, or so the bard once said. The operation took place on the 22nd June as planned, 8 hours everything went to plan. I awoke to see the 3 people most dear to me my family. didn't feelany pain but was a little confused. When they'd gone i looked forwards to going to sleep. Unfotunately for me it never came and for the next week i didn't seam to sleep at all. I'll just say nightmares and fear that i've never known. No swallow test was done and i was sent to...

    Day 1 of Cycle 3
.. the last 'big' dose of chemo! We are now more than acquainted with the routine. Amazingly we don't arrive too early and don't have to hang around so it's only a short wait before hubby is hooked up to the drip - nice private room - lots of reading stuff and of course, the 2 laptops and blackberry. Drip, drip, drip ...the sound of the pump pushing the saline solution into hubby's veins... Hospital staff are very kind and offer us both lunch but we know better and have picnic lunch in tow. At the...

    The start of chemo
mum went for her pre chemo check today and has now been told that because she is on a liquid diet only that they are ditching the ECX type of chemo and is now having the ECF instead. She goes tomorrow to get the line fitted and then chemo starts on Friday. Have spoke to her today and I thought she would be really happy as she has wanted chemo to start for weeks but in fact she really wasn't very happy at all. I guess she just hasn't had any time to get her head round this next bit. That sounds...

    DCIS Diagnosed. Question about Radiation
Can anyone advise? I have been diagnosed as having DCIS, it is very early and only 6mm. I have just received my date for in patient surgery, however I have a long holiday coming up in the next two months. What I would like to know is the timeline from surgery to radiatioin treatment if this is necessary, for example Operation week after next, do the hospital monitor the removed cells for three weeks and then radiation arranged? I was under this impression and also that it would take a further 3 weeks...

Living under the shadow of the axe!
Hi All Well so far I have been very positive since being diagnosed with AML (chemo not suitable) but although today I have been to hosp and all is stable I have decided that the worst thing is the strain of perpetually feeling like I am living in the shadow of the axe! I feel well but my mind is starting to play tricks on me - every little niggle and I worry - is this it? It is constantly there marring my quality of life all the time. I find myself starting to think - oh well if it's inevitable...

    Newly diagnosed
Recently (6th August) been diagnosed with high grade, invasive breast cancer. MRI, CT and bone scans have been arranged this week. Having wonderful hot flushes as have been told by consultant to throw my HRT in the bin!! Convinced that cancer has spread, but trying to remain positive. Family don't seem to be coping with this as well as me at the moment. I am trying to continue at work as I want as much "normality" as possible whilst I can as I realise there will come a time during my treatment that...

    My lump and I
Well me and lumpy groin are just back from oncology. You will recall that the ultrasonographer proclaimed my lump to be just an enlarged lymph node, which surprised and concerned me, since I had the lymph nodes in my groin removed in February 2008. Today I saw a member of my consultant's team and she agreed that it is a bit suspicious and requires further investigation. However, she didn't want to order up any further tests without speaking to my consultant first, and he's on holiday for the entire...

    just wittering on
Haven't really got any 'earth moving' story to tell. Just wanted to chat to someone, even if its only a one sided conversation to the little man in the computer! I have to say that I think Ian looks a whole heap better that he did, although he says he feels just as crap as ever (i'm sure he does), he just 'seems' better in himself. It has been a whole week now since we got the news that the cancer was back, so he has been on the steroids a week. They must be doing something for him. We had a...
