Hi Gemma, just to say that we DID get life cover just after my partner had surgery the first time round, although we had to pay 4 times the normal premium for a period of 5 years, the irony being that the premium has just returned to normal but my partners cancer has sadly returned so now they wont offer us anything. If you want to pm me i can give you the insurance company (not sure if im supposed to mention it on here)

Hope this helps, take care, Julie x

Hi Try "miaonline" got info on this on another site and they deal with people who have ongoing medical conditions.

I got reasonable quotes for trips to Africa, the Galapogous with added Amazon, (looking to the future) and did mention I like to do dangerous sports ie white water rafting and jumping out of planes, and if anything like that comes up I will do it, which ment even prior to my having c most companys wouldnt touch me.

So give them a try, others have found good insurance with others, not sure but was either M&S or Boots would cover them including theire c as most will cover for stuff but not the c.

Hope this is of some help.

Sorry Gemma, I work in the business and I think it's unlikely that you'll find anyone to insure you.  Depends of course on what type of policy you're after, but if it's just bog standard life assurance to cover a mortgage say, then pretty much impossible.  If you go for higher cost cover then perhaps at an even more inflated premium.

I'm in the same boat, I foolishly cancelled my endowment policy just before I was diagnosed.  Then when I came to try and obtain more cover I was deferred for 5 years, this meant one of two things, either the insurer would consider me after 5 years or they expected me to be dead!

Do you have any life cover with work?  That's what I'm banking on, my four times salary death in service!  Does kind of make you feel trapped by your employer though!!

    Hi Gemma,

I am having a similar problem and am in the process of moving house and therefore increasing our mortgage. I wish I had moved house last year that way I could now be in a nicer house with the majority of the mortgage paid off!! Our mortgage was quite small but critical illness policy paid most of that of after melanoma diagnosis. I have applied to the same company again (a large company that has recently changed their name!) They have quoted me 5 or 6 times the normal premium reducing each year until it returns to normal after 5 years. I don't know what the outcome will be but at least they didn't say no straight away. We applied in June and my husband got accepted within days, whereas I have had interviews, more forms to fill in etc and I am still waiting for a decision. It might be worth giving them a try though. If you do find someone to insure you let me know,
