Who do I complain to now?
Went and had the blood work and CT scan w/ contrast a couple of weeks ago. Got a copy of the CD that day no report yet. Got the O.K. for a "Follow-up" meeting with the folks at Loma Linda Cancer Center on Wednesday the 19th. Chased down the report on Monday the 17th. Report said had some lymph nodes swollen and a dark area on the mesentaric artery. Dr. Wong said it looks resectable, but he wants me to talk to the surgeon tommarrow. Went back yesterday bright and early and met with the surgeon. She...

    Is this to risky???
Hello Just wondered if anyone has risked going on holiday without travel insurance?? It is so expensive to try and get insured, and as I'm only going for a week and have been well, thought i would risk it, does anyone have any advice for me and haven't been away from England since my dx in Feb this year, so a little nervous. Thanks folks.

    A difficult birthday
Thanks to all the lovely people who took the time to reply to my first blog post. It helped me to realise that I had started grieving for dad (it's the second time I've had to deal with it, my blood dad died suddenly of a heart attack many years ago), but at least we can have some precious time together. Dad was allowed home, it was the day of his birthday, which was quite difficult as he knows he is very unlikely to see another one. He is managing to eat quite well, which is encouraging (and means...

    managing radiotherapy burns anal cancer
Hi everyone im new to this and a complete wus as far as computer skills go. To be honest im not even sure if its my thing at all, iv never used web forums or chat sites for any reason whatsoever. I have come thru anal cancer chemoradiotherapy however and think I have some advise to pass on. I believe its aparticularly tough treatment and the skin effects of radio are more intense. I had extensive skin breakdown in the undercarriage area inthe latter stage of radio and following on.I think everyone...

    Went out last night!
well I didn't do any work but then I didn't watch iplayer either - so that's fair enough I think... I did decide that I was going to sons' gig last night and that was that. They were playing in York with a drummer they'd never played with (regular guy let them down at the last minute). After their sound check me and OH had a stroll around - the Races are on so there were loads of people all poshed up - suits, hats, best frocks, no coats - like a huge wedding party! You could tell that...

    I'm still checking in
It's a while since I've blogged on here - we've actually had a week's hol in Italy which was fantastic, then a long weekend with our friends in their caravan,.... Hmmmm, cosy, is the only thing to say about that!! But I've been catching up with everyone the last couple of days, reading up on blogs that I missed. My son is doing fine, back at work, and has his follow-up appointment on Monday. He has handled the whole thing so brilliantly, we're really proud of him. If only his marriage could settle...

    My husband looks a state!!
Bit of a lazy day today. Yesterday I had my spring cleaning head on, today lazy one. As predicted it rained just before I arrived at my friends house. Had a lovely lunch though and the grandchildren were really well behaved. Going out tonight with the skittles team I play for. First time I will have seen them all since diagnosis, though they all probably know as I live in a village where gossip is rife! Got back to my husband that he actually has cancer and not me and that he looked "A hell of a...

    Time Goes By
It has been just over a month since my mum was taken away from her family that needs her so much. I arranged the funeral and it kept me focussed. It was a fitting tribute to a lovely lady and the crematorium was packed, so many people attended that people had to stand. It was awful to have to say goodbye. We then burried my mum's ashes and this was a peaceful moment in a special woodland. My mum, like many other people had been secretly storing money away! We needed to apply for probate and...

    six months on.....
Hi everyone, haven't visited for a while as we've been really busy with everyday life. Mum has now been living with us since february and we treasure each and every day. She is slowly deteriorating daily now, she gets weaker and now hasn't eaten for over three weeks, she lives on supplement drinks and coffee! She remains positive although she is now obviously in some pain but being the person she is , she still tries to hide it. It's been a tough journey for all, my teenage son had a 'wobbly'...

    Treatment in Germany
Just back from Frankfurt where my husband had treatment for Mesothelioma. After a course of chemo in the UK, left him in remission, his oncologist told him "no further treatment, NHS or private is available here so make the best of what time you have left". Six months on, he is still in perfect health, so when we found a reference to a new method of giving chemo being done at Frankfurt University, and producing very encouraging results. We made enquiries, and he was accepted. Although each of...
