    Day 18 Bertiebassetts Return Journey
It has been a couple of days since I visited becsause Bert has been well. However, last night his temp weent up to 39.9 and he was very confused The Drs could not undersand what hew  was trying to say nor could the nurses. He did not know who the were or where hewas until I appeared and he said he had better behave so he still has his sense of humour amongst the confusion. The only positive thing to come from this episode is that the Drs have finally noticed the confusion and are arranging a CT...

Boosmum's kidney cancer blog - God I could scream!!!

OK first time blogging so I'm not sure what I am doing.

God I could scream just about sums it up.  I am fed up with his cancer!

    I am worried and scared.

Came home from work this evening and he calmly informs me that he can't move his left foot properly.  He sat on the sofa and sort of pulled his toes towards him, the right ones moved a good couple of inches, but the left ones moved maybe a cm.  He then informs me that his arm feels heavy and his left hand feels a bit funny.  He has had some...

    Assisted Death
First I think Assisted Suicide is a misleading description of a person choosing to end their suffering so henceforth I refer to Assisted Death. The clarification of the ruling on Assisted Death is of Paramount importance to many subscribers to this site. Indeed the Report is giving a hint of certain relaxations. This will be welcome news to many in acute pain with conditions beyond help. It will also give comfort for those not at this stage yet .  Additionally there is hope for those who would normally...

    Another major achievment

    Hi All,

Another positive today, I havent done the usual and come home from work and just crawled into bed. Stopped off at Sainsburys treated the whole family to fresh cream cakes (there's even one with my name on) and have managed to throw together a fairly good tea for all ...sausage casserole and mash. feel quite chuffed with myself as was feeling guilty that my other half bless him was picking up all the slack and more. If it keeps up like this they all might get a roast dinner out of me Sunday...

    The Story So Far...

Can't believe it's been just over a week since we were told my partner of 13 years had cancer.

It all started a couple of months ago when he started to get stomach pains. We started to do research and cut out wheat - at the time he was really fed up about not being able to eat pizza. To be able to go back there would be amazing.

He went to the doctor and they suggested laxatives which didn't help at all - next satge was a blood test. This came back normal, apart from the 'start of liver...

    My Mum

My Mum's just recently been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. I've only just come onto this site and already reading other peoples' stories has made me cry.  She's only 58 and I am about 20 years younger than her. It's already spread from her lung to her other parts of her body, therefore they can't operate and won't offer radiotherapy only 6 courses of chemo.  It's so unfair and I feel like screaming.  She lives abroad and is not allowed to travel back to the UK...

    A whole slice...yippee

Things are looking up...just managed to eat a whole slice of wholemeal toast, I am sure if I can get this sick feeling under control and my apetite back then I will feel a lot better, Im sure its just nerves though cos I was eating like a horse last week.

Even managed to answer the phones today and not done too much wandering round the office aimlessly.

    Hope everyone is ok.

    love Terri xx

    The last TAX - woohoo!
I’m a bit late getting this update out – so sorry about that.
The final chemo treatment went without incident although several people came and went in the room and I heard many horror stories relating to veins and PICCs etc so it was a bit distressing but good encouragement for me for my dissertation work.
I was also able to pick up my first prescription for Tamoxifen that I will be starting on the 19th October.  It appears to be 1 tablet per day for 5 – 10 years .... but obviously I...
