Prequel- Doing it wrong & not being there.

Doing a Star Wars job here & going back in time now.

This is a time I really hate myself for and look back in anger at how utterly useless I was. I'm not offering explanations & you can draw your own conclusions as to how I behaved. It's done now & lessons have been learnt.

About 6 years ago I remember clearly my sister coming home after a weekend away and saying she had found a lump. Trying to convince her it could be totally harmless etc was no use & she seemed to know it...

    Soft Diet

This is no ordinary soft diet..........This an M&S soft diet!!! lol!

I have been left with eating problems (swallowing, chewing etc)

I managed to stabilise my weight enough to finally have my peg tube removed and at first it was wonderful, soups, custard scrambled eggs etc!

However after a few months my weight dropped as I became bored and depressed with eating the same old things, and because I have little to no saliva, I drink loads of water so I never seem to feel hungry!

    Anyway, my family...

    Oesophageal cancer ECX then surgery

Husband is 75 and for a few months had suffered from excessive burping when eating/drinking. Went to GP after suddenly almost choking one day. GP (bless him) immediately arranged for camera-down-throat job at Southend hospital. We had thought they'd say hiatus hernia or similar......

However, they couldn't get the camera down all the way cos of a 'growth' blocking its passage and the operative told us, regretfully, it was almost definitely cancer. Biopsies were taken and a CT scan done. We...

    Ticking clock

Clive is still feeling really well, and has been doing lots of normal things. Had a fab night out in London. Clive's amazing boss treated us. People really can be so kind! Are looking forward to our Vegas trip in just over a weeks time. Clive is really looking forward to meeting up with some old friends while we are over there too.

I never want this to end, Clive feeling great and spending some wonderful time together. I can't get away from the feeling that the clock is ticking......

    Moving forward

Hi everyone, I am now 4 weeks post surgery and starting to feel a lot better. I'm still not feeling well enough for my liking, but that's just me. Still have seroma which has been drained twice but doesn't want to go away. (It must love me!)

I am missing work and my lovely colleagues who have been sending cards, flowers, messages and their love and support.

Today has been a good day for the most part.

Around 11am my lovely friend came and took me for lunch, which was wonderful. She...

I can see light at the end of the tunnel

    Hi everyone

I had my last chemo yesterday and I really can't believe how quickly the time has gone.  I can honestly say that the journey so far has not been too bad.  I had to spend one night in Christies last week because of neutropenia and a water infection but was allowed out the following day with a course of antibiotics.  No sickness, mouth problems or neuropathy just a few joint pains on days 4 & 5.  My weight has remained pretty stable, although appetite has been a little up and down.  I...

what a difference a day makes....

Well it is true, your world can turn on its head in a matter of moments. I had a mammogram on Monday 28th Sept followed by a biopsy on Tuesday and seeing consultant again on Monday 5th October for final results and plan of action.

I came onto this website on Monday terrified, but my god what wonderful people are on here. The encouragement that I have had and the inspiration is awesome. I never expected to be in this position ( I don't suppose anyone does) but here I am and I now realise I am not...
