    High Dose Chemo Sucks !

    Hi All

Sorry been so long since i updated with what was happening.

But this litle story will explain ..

After having the usual 6 rounds of R-Chop for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma part of my tumour was still there in my chest, so approx four weeks ago i was admitted to hospital to have a week long high dose chemotherapy session called R-ICE.

After having the break from all the chemo i had i was just starting to feel a bit "normal" again until i was admitted!

Something set me off and i could...

    Bad Day Today

Well there I was yesterday wondering why I was taking time off work when I'm perfectly fine and then today bumph - can't stop crying.  My brother and my sister both have lung cancer and it looks as though my brother may not have much time left - everything is going wrong now.  He's been fighting like hell for 3.5 years having been given 6 months and I admire him so much but the b***ard thing is crucifying him.  I'm so angry, just really really angry.

    Is this just self pity?

I am so tired again, all I can think about is climbing back into bed. I am sore and uncomfortable, or am I simply just feeling sorry for myself. I just can't pick myself up and am feeling pretty lonely as there is no one to hold me close and tell me it's gonna be okay...

    TOO MANY COOKS?

I presume I am not the only one who has followed by the book the instructions given by nurse, radiographers etc etc that the only think I can use on the aread of my skin being treated with radiotherapy is BABY SOAP & AQUEOUS CREAM!.  not baby bath or similar - just pure baby soap in a bar. No Deoderant, no body lotion etc etc.

I suffer from a skin condition and have steroid creams in varying strengths to use on my skin, particularly under my arms (which is one of the areas being treated.)  Consequently...

all the way to the birdy boiler...

Sorry crap line from the Lion King that keeps creeping into life.

Did I mention that he probably has brain mets?  that he has had a minor stroke? That the house is a tip, that I am trying so hard to hold it together and failing badly????

I was doing OK but am having a crap evenign (probably due to the near bottle of wine I have drunk)

Feeling shit, feeling scared and angry again.  What is it with the anger?  I could rip people's head off when they try to be kind and do the "I know"

    Day 28 BertieBassetts Return Journey

They have found out that Berts infection is coming from his hickman line so it was removed rather swiftly as apparently the infection is a particularly difficult one to erradicate. Fingers crossed now that the line is out the infection will move. Bert looks really tired and is still confused quite a bit. ( He thinks we went out on the bus with the nurse on Sunday). But he needs another 2 units of blood tonight as his Hb is only 7.1 so hopefully he will have some couolour in his cheeks tomorrow

WTF 3 - back to work

Oh lordy me. First day back at work since mums diagnosis. I had a week off to kinda come to terms (as much as you can) with whats inevitable. Been a tough week as I'm sure you all have experienced in your own way ; so in a way I was kinda glad to get back to work.

Aye, right. That lasted about 10 seconds. Usual crap, pretty much from the outset, only difference is that I seem to have lost my ability to put on a face and just let it slide passed without letting it get to me. Suddenly all the nonsense...

    It is all go again....

    Hi all,

    Just a quick update.

I've now had two measuring sessions for the Radiotherapy planning - I think they know my boobs better than me now!

I've now had 2 'debates' with the Radiotherapy Registrar:

The first one was about the duration of the treatment.  I decided to push back against his 'change of heart' (that seemed to be driven by a change of boss Dr) and I am sticking with the shorter regime.  This gives me a chance of being ok (from a radio side effects perspective...

    post op check up

Had my check up this afternoon after surgery.  Had an xray first and then had to see the registrar.  After getting lost and wandering around the hospital for a while I arrived at clinic red faced, breathless and barking like mad. The x ray showed that my lung had expanded well and no abnormalities showing.  He discharged me and is now referring me back to the original hospital where i was diagnosed with the cancer.  I've had a niggling cough  since surgery which is getting considerably worse and now...

    Wont be helped

Been to visit the mother in law today with the children. Was worrying and upsetting.

The problem is with her pain meds. she is supposed to get a dose at 1pm at 3pm it still hadn't been given. I said 'I'll go ask about it shall I?' ' No, no' she relies 'don't talk to any of the staff.'

I'm her primary carer and she refuses to let me talk to the medical staff at all. They wont talk to us without her permission and she wont let us talk to them at all. She has no...
