    the bell

When I a was a youth at school we had a hippie science teacher who was determined to show all the wonders of modern science

Power around the home .was his favorite lessons
One day he decided to teach us the way a front door bell worked so with coils of wires and round magnets we build a front door bell and fitted it in  a panel of wood to demo it it was good  and we never ad one at home so I decided to make a bell and fit it in the front door.

Well I found an old scrap bell in  a  box so that...

    MUGA

I had my MUGA scan this avo.  For those of you who dont know ( and I probably have blogged about this before) a MUGA is a scan which checks heart function.  You are given an injection of radioactive isotopes and a tracer then you lie on a machine for about 15 minutes and it looks at how well your heart pumps blood around the body. Basically when the heart fills with blood it is said to be 100% then the rate at which it pumps blood out is the result they give you. Anything over 50 % is said to be a...

No brain mets, just multiple mets everywhere else in only 9 weeks!!!!

OK folks, not sure where I got to lasttime but we went to Guy's for the results today.  It wasn't brain mets, but something caused the stroke, possibly at surgery, but he is already getting more movement back.  On the less than positive note the CT scan showed mets that were too many to count in his abdomen.  There are 3 main ones of 4cm, 2.5cm and .8cm and a shotgun style scattering of mets accross his whole abdo currently too small to measure.  This seems incredibly fast growth to me as nothing...

    Update from the Pain Clinic

We had a appointment with the pain clinic this afternoon at the local hospice.  They are going to try putting dad on a short burst of steroids to see if that helps his pain,  his is in a lot of pain just now.  I saw him when we was with the doctor the pain was winding him so I told her and she managed to get a couple of his breakthrough tablets for him.  She took blood tests and hopefully we should get the results tomorrow, she said that if he needed any treatment in hospital she could arrange for him...

Head all over the place and hubby asking all the relevant questions, me meantime sitting breathing like I was in labour and having hot flushes. The Mac nurse is asking me if I want to see pictures of mastectomy, me shaking my head but still remembering my manners "NO THANK YOU"  Asked the question when can you do it and have a date 4th...

    in denial

I guess I have been in denial.  Haven't had time to take in that hubby has cancer, never mind that I am going to lose him soon.  Spoke to his oncologist yesterday and the next couple of days are critical.  He has massive infections from the chemo and is not doing well at all.  Even if he does get through this, he won't be able to handle more chemo and the cancer is very agressive so I won't have him for long and I don't think he will be able to come home again.

I am having a very difficult...

    Here we go again

After dad having a relatively good day yesterday, he has went downhill again the emergency doctor had to be called in again at 5am, they just upped his hydromorphone because they wasnt sure what else to do because they could not get a hold of the cancer consultant at the hospice to inform them what dose of morphine they could give dad so apparently thay are putting in a complaint about that because there should be someone on call to help in matters like this.  We have a appointment at the hospice...
