I had my MUGA scan this avo. For those of you who dont know ( and I probably have blogged about this before) a MUGA is a scan which checks heart function. You are given an injection of radioactive isotopes and a tracer then you lie on a machine for about 15 minutes and it looks at how well your heart pumps blood around the body. Basically when the heart fills with blood it is said to be 100% then the rate at which it pumps blood out is the result they give you. Anything over 50 % is said to be a normal result. Before I started this cycle of Herceptin my result was 60% today it was 54 so I am a bit disappointed. When I was on Herceptin before it went from around 78% right down to 48% so I had to stop treatment as you become at risk of heart failure. It may just mean I will need some breaks in treatment so that makes me a little anxious if I'm honest. Will see what the onc thinks on the 2nd. I also have a heart abnormality which I was born with that causes palpitations etc and I had one today during the scan so they had to end it early. I was very embarrassed but he assured me they got enough to get a good result.
Love to all
