    Coming Home

    Hi everyone,

It's our last full day today and I really should be packing. Somehow or other we have alot more 'stuff' than we came with... can't blame it on the shopping expedition to the biggest Mall in America either as it didn't materialise. The trip takes about 1 1/2 hours and the bus didn't have a loo so we could not go. Restrooms (American word for loo) have become quite a priority in our lives - we know every one of them within a mile radius of the condo. I worry about becoming a restroom...

    Roll-calls pain and being bolshie?

Hi everyone - now I know I don't blog on here that often, but I do catch up with people at least every other day. But... I too, am missing certain people and wonder if they're ok? I'm frightened to ask about them in case I've missed some bad news, but I don't see how I could have done.

So i suggest a fortnightly roll-call? I'm reading a book about Japanese POW camps, and their obsession with 'Tenko' or roll-call. What do you think, ha ha?

    The main issue with me...

Slowly back to the daily grind

Spent two days in work this week, and will very gradually ramp things up over the next couple of months. Only catch is I keep thinking I can do more than I actually can ...

I find that I am getting a little breathless again because I am scared to breathe deeply in case it hurts (it used to - not any more though thanks (?!) to 6 litres of cisplatin). Have been advised to take up Yoga to try and fix this - I must have been carrying the condition around for many years as taking shallow breaths has become...

    Day 52 Bertiebassetts return Journey.

Friday morning we got the date through for admission for Bone Marrow Transplant, it is the 7th December. Now I have mixed feelings about this transplant. Firstly Bert needs to be in remission and we wont find that out until nearer the time, he also has to have a variety of tests on his heart, lungs, kidneys & liver oh and they also have to make sure he has no STD's or HIV..Before they do the Aspiration to find out if he is in remission.

They have a flat n the Beatson so I am going to try...

this is my first entry. my mum was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer last october and is currently on her second course of chemo, she does not seem to be responding, she has also has radiotherapy on most of her spine to treat tumors there. she has a visible lump on her throat which does not seem to be getting any better and i am scared that the consultant will soon say that they will stop treatment. my emotions swing from positive, seizing the moment, to utter despair and loneliness. i feel like...

    Ups and downs

Wow this rollercoaster we are on is bumpy.  I was saying to my husband that dad is like that Forrest Gump saying 'like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get next'.  From the sheer frustration and rage he was feeling the other night to last night when he was feeling a great deal of pain and not good at all to tonight, well what can I say about tonight.  He was sleeping when we first went in so I figured he was quite sore again he woke up and we said hi then he fell asleep...

    Hi Everyone,

Firstly great news about Andrew...way to go hun.

Just got back from hospital and the op is all done, thought I had got my head round the mastectomy...how stupid of me.

Spent this morning sitting on the floor in the shower room in the hospital sobbing my heart out. When the nurse came round to change my dressing ready to go home she asked if I wanted to look at the op site and again sobbing began, I couldnt do it, couldnt bring myself to look because then it would be real and I would...

    still hurting

Almost a week at home alone and it hurts so much.  I miss him so much.  I am going to get away for a week on Sunday, going to visit a relative in Newfoundland where I have never been and have no memories.  I do hope that will help, I don't have much interest in anything right now.  Just trying to get through each day as it comes.  I did get a note to be off work until December and I expect by then, I will be not want to be home alone any more.  This has been a tough week and I cry all the time.  I do...
