  • Carrying on . . . .One Day at a Time
One year, six months and one day on . .

That's how long it is since my eldest daughter passed away.  I wrote a blog during her illness and have decided to start one up again.

Grief is a monster.  It sneaks up on you, sometimes when you least expect it.   Last weekend I went to a Trophy Shop in town to purchase an award to present in memory of Melissa.  It is awarded to the pupil who shows enthusiam or inspires others in a particular lesson or subject.

The inscription on the award is . . . . "To inspire is within us all"

    My Cancer Journey

I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in July 2001. I had had no real symptoms ( well to me any way)

My monthlys stopped in Jan 2001. Oh l thought l have gone into the change. thought nothing about it any more expecting to find l started again the next month.

I found l was putting on weight so started to go to the gym to do some think about it. The weight continued to climb until going to the gym was a real effort and l was too tired to go. what really pushed me was two ladies were joining the gym...

Hit me like a tonne of bricks

3 days now since my wonderful Mum passed away and today it has just hit me like a tonne of bricks. Don't know if its because the local paper is out today with the announcement in, making it official, or what but I don't think I could ever feel as low as I do today.

Another mountain of cards has just dropped through the letterbox, with lovely messages in about mum and what a lovely lady she was, so why was she taken from us, why can't they take the bad people away and leave the special ones...

    Keep Me Calm

    Hi Mummy

Im asking you huge favour for tomorrow. I need you to give me the strength to keep  calm tomorrow if Grandpa starts to have a pop at me. Im meeting Ann-Louise in the M&S Cafe tomorrow morning and then Grandpa is going to meet us there.

The thing is I have been so busy with my in-laws lately that I have barely had time to see anyone when we have been home, because it has been non stop washing and housework before we have to go back up again. I dont think he will understand. Even when...

    Telgirls dance with cance.....10

Well this is all getting a little boring for me now. Had a fantastic nights sleep on Monday back in my own bed surround by enough chocolates to rival Thorntons and woke Tuesday feeling not too bad.

Caught up on what had been going on here while away and managed some pate on toast for lunch made for me by my fantastic cousin who had arrived from up north the following day to stay with me and take care of me for a week (how spoilt am I). Started feeling a bit off colour about 1ish hot and icky so...

More Good News for Liz G

    Hi Everyone

I haven't blogged for ages, but I am so excited and wanted to share the news with  you all.  My sister (Liz G, a member on  the site)  visited her oncologist this afternoon, he hadn't seen her since January, as he was off on long term sick himself, and she had been seen by someone else.

Sitting outside his office today, we were both waiting anxiously to go in, the oncologist came out and said hi to me, and asked me how I was doing, told me he had seen my scan results and was ver...

    Superstitious number 13

I have just been reading JaneyG's profile & blog about Friday 13th and it got me thinking.

I have always had an irrational fear of the number 13. For as long as I can remember I have always avoided that  number, to the extent that, when reading a book I will NEVER put it down on a page containing the number 13 or 31 or 1 & 3 anywhere therein! This can cause undue stress as I have been known to be late for work, appointments etc or even last to get on a plane because I won't put my book down...

    We live and we learn!!

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?? Here I am, at the advanced age of )&*£$^*_+, (hush!) with my first ever blog!!!! Many of my friends have 'em, my son has one, but I never thought that I would!! The things you do when you can't sleep at 03:38 ! Pop on a load of washing, clean the tops of the kitchen cupboards, create a blog, carry on clearing out the old music room....... I loathe and detest housework - why is it that I get most of it done in the small hours?!...
