  • My beautiful Mom passed away 03/11/09 aged 56 only 8 weeks after diagnosis
    2 days since Mom's funeral

I can't get myself up out of the arm chair, Having a really bad day. Wish I could talk to her.

Mom passed away at home tuesday 3rd november 2009. 8 weeks from diagnosis to death. Had chest infection she couldn't shake, then next thing we know in hospital for 3 weeks, told she had cancer in her lung, shoulder, hip, lower back and top of spine. Only back at home for 5 weeks, then gone, how can that be? It's all gone so fast & now I feel lost.

At least she's at Peace & no more suffering...

    Bobbie

At last Bobbie has had MRI Scan and CT Scan yesterday, to see if any damage has been done from the radiotherapy overdose.  Now all we have to do is wait for results on the 24th Nov.  He should not have to be going through this, has lost all his confidence in  the hospital, don't blame him. Thank goodness for PALS at the hospital, if it wasn't for them I think we would still be waiting for scans to be done. Just got to try and build his confidence back up now and try to get him back on a positive outlook...

  • Carrying on . . . .One Day at a Time
    Thoughts

I went for a walk with the dog tonight.  Rain has many beauties, one of which being it hides tears well.  Thoughts are racing at the moment.  I want another chance to make things work.  I want Mel to beat the cancer this time.  I'm sure if we had another go, we'd beat it.

So many things we'll never do again, so many things we'll miss out on.   There are no answers.  I remember the consultant saying "it wasn't fair"..... too bloody right!!!

How am I going to get through this...

    Approaching base camp

    Hi All

As I finished my last post with a mountain climbing analogy, I thought I'll stick with it.

I will be starting R CHOP for the first time tomorrow and I'm a little apprehensive, but I see this as the base camp and if I want to get to the top this is the starting point.  I was reading up about the treatment and its side effects, but found it was depressing me so I stopped. I'm happier to go into this in blissful ignorance and then cope with the few side effects that I get, rather than...

    Oesophagectomy post-op support

Although I seem to have arrived at a reasonable state 16 months after my operation for Cancer of the Oesophagus (Gullet), I still feel a need to make contact with others who have experienced the same, or similar, operation. I live in Pevensey Bay and was operated on in Brighton. Of course none of the Professionals could guide me towards other patients, so I have sort of been left to get on with it. There is a newly formed Oesophageal Patients Association for the Sussex Coast but it only meets quarterly...
