Should I be back at work?

I finisished my five weeks of radiotherapy two weeks ago - and am still waiting the results of the CT scan for a shadow on my lung - BUT this morning I had a phone call from work.  NO PRESSURE -  BUT WHEN DO I THINK I WILL BE BACK AT WORK?

I am all confused - I have been signed off by the doctor - but feel I am not really ill.  I am not really well either - but am not sure how well I am at present to do my job.

I have an Oncology appointment just before Christmas - but up to now every time I have...

    Blood Infection

My dad has terminal liver and lung cancer, i'm finding it really hard, we don't have the best of relationships and that's not going to change now.  We are what we are and whilst I can accept that, I do feel shut out of things a bit.

He's in hospital at the moment with a blood infection, he's been in there a week and whilst the care he's getting is fantastic, they just can't seem to shift the blood infection.

I know this will be the first stay of many and the whole thing...

    The Home stretch

On Nov. 15-17, 2009, my son had his 17th course of chemotherapy. After at least 20 hospital confinements since January this year, from as short as 2 nights to as long as 2 weeks at a time, this last in-patient session is a milestone for us. After ten months that ran the whole gamut of treatment from chemotherapy to surgery to radiotherapy with major hiccups along the way, it was a celebratory occasion as his doctors:  urologist, nephrologist, thoracic-cardiovascular surgeon, and even the chaplain...

    Next Scan

My next scan is in a couple of weeks and I'm starting to worry about if the Irinotecan will still be working. Will have had 8 doses of it when the scan happens, and the last scan after 4 doses showed it slowed right down in reducing the main tumour in my liver. I don't know if that's bad, normal or still good. After having had a failed result with Oxiliplatin after 4 doses it's all a bit scary. Not sure what they'll with me if it has stopped working. The idea that it might mean there's nothing...

the speech for my mums funeral .
    The fairy tale.
Pat and peter were childhood friends it wasn’t until Pete was on leave from the navy that he made his affection know. And that’s were there fairy tale began.
Pete wrote to his beloved wife regularly and sending her gifts ever time he visited a new place. Pat was sentimental and everything was for keeps.  as pats body departs this world  today she meets her beloved husband in the dress he send her when on his travel.
pat had a unique bond with her husband always knowing...

    Telgirls dance with cance.....17

Hip hip hurray, finally managed to get some sleep, think the red wine was a contributing factor, it certainly took the edge off for when Jedward were on lol.

Woke to pouring rain and raging winds so just chilled until lunchtime then off to the shops, son needed new shoes (easier said than done) he hates anything new so had to make the choice for him, will see how suscessful its been tomorrow. Neck was really aching so my brill hubby ran me a bath (with candles) and off I trotted to soak while he...

    sundays

I hate that you are not here to share these long nights. The gardens are underway are taking shape. Your shed is gone, honey. I am sorry but it was too big for me. I have a smaller one now. Our Clare and Chris are having another girl....a sister for Lana. You would adore Lana, John. She is so cute and would cover you in kisses.

I would give anything to be able to hug you and for you to hug me back. I miss you so much, it still hurts. I hope wherever you are that you know that I love you and am trying...

New around here, coping with a partner diagnosed with bladder cancer

    Hi

I'm new to the Macmillan online world, I only signed up yesterday, and I've been really unsure how to introduce myself. Well... I suppose I should start with the basics. I'm Holly, and my fiance was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with bladder cancer. I had him admitted to A&E after he started experiencing extreme discomfort and losing a fair amount of blood. We found out at A&E that his bladder was full of blood which is not a very good sign at all so they had him transferred to another hospital...

    Operation

Still haven't heard when I am getting my Urostomy, surely it must be in the next 2 weeks.

Can anyone who has been thro' this tell me how long the op takes and how long will I have to stay in hospital.
