Had a panic moment this morning when a letter arrived from the hospital with appointment for a NM whole body scan on Tuesday. Now the dilemma is do they know something and are just not saying or is this normal.......I have put a positive spin on this by thinking that at least I will have had a full MOT...
Well dad is all settled in the hospice. The ambulance came to pick him up yesterday and they wouldnt let mum go with him so mum was really upset called me and I was upset, I think it might have dawned on her that he wont be home now as she was telling me before he was picked up that he might be in for a week and then home, I tried to gently tell her then felt awful when she called me in tears. I left work and met her to go in and see him, when we got there he was sitting in a really comfortable electric...
hello well its been a goodish week i had my ct scan on the wed and i got the all clear- well the cancer hasn't spread out of my pelvis area so it was good news. i start chemo on monday but i am a tad confused as when she called yesterday we had a talk about side effects etc but she would go into it more on monday. i asked her roughly what time i'd expect to be home i thought about lunch and she said it'll be two full days of treatments so it will be evening/night before i am able to go home, to start...

I had my Colonoscopy Friday at 3 o'clock, nothing to eat from 1PM Thursday. The fasting wasn't a problem but the tea and toast afterwards was like a feast.
The colonoscopy itself was fine, the sedation really makes such a difference.
Thankfully, they did not find anything else so it's all systems go for the operation on 11th December.
I am feeling very lucky at the moment, hope it continues.

My consultant phoned on Thursday evening, the results of my scans were clear, thank God.
I am booked in for the operation at the Lister on 11th December.
They are intending on doing keyhole surgery which should hopefully quicken my recovery time.
This is the best news I could have got
Just left my dad in hospital for a platelet transfusion. Hope they'll look after him right - hope they realise how weak he is, how restricted the food he can eat is, how scared he is. How hard it is to see someone you love with their spirits so low. At least my mum and i will get a better night's sleep, but who will he talk to at 5 am? I'm glad that when I made the decision to come and care for him in his last few months of life that I didn't appreciate how hard it would be, cos I might not have...
I thought it was about time i put some good news on here. My boy only has another 4 blocks of chemo to go then he will get tested to see if he needs anything else. So everyone keep your fingers crossed for him, he is doing good and acting more like my boy which i love to bits. He is back at school full days and even though the doctors have told him to take it easy he was playing football at school. He is starting to relise he cant do as much as he used to but at least he knows his own limits and...
Received one of the phone calls I have been waiting for today - no news from the genetics clinic in relation to the result of my BRCA1 cancer gene screening, so it looks like time has run out and the radiotherapy is back on. The radiology dept phoned and asked if I could go straight over for the planning appointment - I bottled it and have arranged to go in tomorrow morning instead. There has been a long gap since my surgery (too much time has resulted in a bit of denial on my part) and now it looks...
Do not read if you do not want to be well informed about 'the end' or last few weeks and days. I am posting these because after loosing my father to a liver secondary (he had acute liver failure right at the end, deteriorated at an remarkably fast rate..all of this owing to a bowel primary found 2 years prior). I now have the reflection after my father's death and I wish I'd been better informed about the end, as I could have provided for him better. I did write a detailed post about my father's...
