    Is there anyone out there?

Hi I'm kinda new to this so here goes.  My name is Donald, I'm married and have two teenage kids. A non-smoker and very moderate drinker.  I've been battling tongue and mouth cancer on and off for about 20 years and have lost count of the number of operations I've had done. Up to now most have been conservative as the team of doctors have tried to be as conservative as possible to preserve my quality of life. Up to last year that is. The cancer for no particular reason spread rapidly and...

lung cancer and dvt (blood clots)

hi,  mums just finished her fourth lot of chemo and inbetween her third and fourth one she had a dvt in her leg, for anyone out there having chemo please just keep an eye out for the symptoms of a blood clot which can easily be sorted with blood thinning drugs.

look out for swollen leg especially the calf,

    redness

    throbbing

    sore and hot areas.

    hope this helps .

    9TH JUNE WALK IN CENTRE

    Hi

See below for how the wound is looking. Getting bored seeing the overgranulation and the top 1/4 is still stinging and painful when they try to remove slough. I have near finished the antibiotics and its still looking very red and angry. However there was very little exudate and there has been now for a week so maybe the fucibet is working or the antibiotics or the prontosan or.... i dont know.

double tubigrip went over minimal dressings to try and keep it all as flat as possible. a large burn...

  • My Dad's story so far
    Summertime

Dad has now had 4 rounds of chemo , this last one has really affected him .

They have decided to give him a further 2 treatments along with his radio but he is considering not taking the final chemo session as he has found it incredibly hard to bear.

There's a small part of me that thinks quality of life is more important , he needs to be active and happy and if that is what he chooses for however long he can do it then I will stand by him and his choices.

The good weather has been a boost...

    part 2 confusion

i have been to see the specialist ,its early stage cancer type 1a,4.8 mm,its just in an awkward postion. the trachelectomy procedure, however after looking over my notes and speakin to the consultant who performed my knife cone biopsy"s,he has said this procedure is not suitable as the tumour is on the vaginal wall of the uterus higher up the cervix,so they cannot see whether any has entered the uterus.(i dont know how to explain this)The trac would basically take the width across the...

Cervical cancer age 25 no symptoms,no children

    hi everyone,

i was diagnosed 10th may with cervical cancer, all this coming from my first smear test 2 days b4 my 25th birthday.

abnormal cells (severe dyskaryosis) were found and i was sent for a colposcopy.here she found the area affected would be too painful, and too large for her to do minor biopsies,as it was on the vaginal wall,so i was sent for the lletz treatment under genereal anaesthetic.

i recovered fine from this, was too busy wanting to eat something that i was allowed home a...

    Hello feeling stronger now

hello folks, it's been a while since my last blog and the reason why is I just haven't been able to cope with it all.

I am now feeling stronger and back to being me and not Vee with secondary cancer. I have been suffering for weeks with a really painful neck that the pain meds just didn't want to shift on the dose I was on and I ended up in A&E having x-rays, thankfully no cracked vertebrae. So where was the pain coming from and what was the cause, the onc thought it was the tumour on C2...
