part 2 confusion

1 minute read time.

i have been to see the specialist ,its early stage cancer type 1a,4.8 mm,its just in an awkward postion. the trachelectomy procedure, however after looking over my notes and speakin to the consultant who performed my knife cone biopsy"s,he has said this procedure is not suitable as the tumour is on the vaginal wall of the uterus higher up the cervix,so they cannot see whether any has entered the uterus.(i dont know how to explain this)The trac would basically take the width across the cervix but not the height if that makes sense!!??so they are sendin me for a mri mid june, then they are goin to try another biopsy the week after, but obviously wont know what they"re looking for,as their will be scarring from the previous op.However if this is not successful,i need to prepare myself for the hysterectomy.

But im tryin to stay positive, not get my hopes up as seem to keep getting knocked back down, and take each day as it comes. When you first hear that word it scares the hell out of you,and i was thinking "am i going to die"? NO i am not,but this has definately made me view things in a different light x

    Hi there

Just wanted to let you know that I too was diagnosed with cervical cancer at a young age (im 28), and like you have no children. You are sadly not alone in this. However you do sound very confused about what is going to happen. I suggest next time you see your consultant that you take pen and paper and a list of questions, as with information comes power. A trach was not possible for me so I had to have a hysterectomy, which as you say is devestating when your young, but the sad thing is it just may be the thing that saves your life. I also thought I should tell you that there is a good website called Jo's Trust that really helped me out a lot and has loads of information and stories from other cervical cancer patients, check it out as it is really good. And if you have any questions I will do my best to answer.

    Take care

    R
