lung cancer and dvt (blood clots)

Less than one minute read time.

hi,  mums just finished her fourth lot of chemo and inbetween her third and fourth one she had a dvt in her leg, for anyone out there having chemo please just keep an eye out for the symptoms of a blood clot which can easily be sorted with blood thinning drugs.

look out for swollen leg especially the calf,

redness

throbbing

sore and hot areas.

hope this helps .

Thankyou for the tip- glad it was caught in time for your mum.do you know if this a risk only when you are on chemo or can it affect a lung cancer patient who is no longer having treatment.

    Hi Clare and Michelle

My understanding is that it can be a side-effect of chemo (although my step-dad had lung cancer as well, perhaps it's related to a particular type of chemo?). I'm sure others may have some experience too. All the best to you and your Mum. Val X

hi clare , i think it is definately an increased risk when having chemo, as for after my mum has been told to keep an eye out for symptoms just in case .
